Imagine your next project driving process safety excellence and safeguarding cutting-edge equipment at a world-class manufacturing site. For our site in Geel, we are looking for an experienced HAZOP/LOPA Lead to strengthen our team of internal HAZOP/LOPA Leads. This team is responsible for safety studies across the entire life-cycle of our equipment; both within projects (basic engineering up to as-built) as well as in the remediation of safety studies on existing equipment.

roles and responsibilities 

As a HAZOP/LOPA Lead, you will contribute to analyzing, structuring, and substantiating safety choices within new and existing installations (including reactors, dryers, centrifuges, tanks, and utilities).

This will involve:

  • Being responsible for the entire HAZOP/LOPA process (from preparation to reporting).

  • Functioning as a technical sounding board in the field of process safety.

  • Collaborating closely with process engineers, safety experts, and (junior) HAZOP scribes.

  • Stimulating and supporting the identification and development of innovative technical solutions for safety problems and opportunities in processes.


how to succeed 

The successful candidate possesses a deep commitment to process safety, paired with exceptional communication and collaboration skills to lead cross-functional safety studies effectively.

You will also bring:

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, leading HAZOP/LOPA studies, both within projects as well as in the remediation of studies of existing equipment.

  • Focus and deep-rooted understanding and commitment to safety.

  • Strong communicative skills.

  • Fluency in speaking Dutch.

  • Experience in collaborating with process engineers, safety experts, and (junior) HAZOP scribes.

  • Experience with functional safety and/or explosion safety (ATEX) and/or PSV/RD/orifice calculations and/or machine safety.

  • Master's degree in Engineering Sciences in chemical or process safety engineering.

  • Experience with process safety activities in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
