Senior Payroll Specialist


Location: Leiden, Netherlands

Duration: 6 months

Hours: 40 or 32 hours per week

roles and responsibilities

  • You oversee and monitor a complex payroll administration.

Efficiency is a key word in daily process execution to ensure all processes run as efficiently and standard as possible.

  • You continuously review processes for effectiveness, where making procedures more efficient is extremely important.

  • Maintaining good cooperation with stakeholders (such as HR and Finance) is essential.

  • You check the payroll for accuracy and completeness in accordance with tax and social security laws, and internal J&J guidelines and procedures.

  • You ensure (together) the timely processing of payroll administration, payroll tax returns, and provide salary-related information.

  • You generate and provide salary journal entries to Accounting.

  • You supply information for audits (including SOX).

  • You participate in and lead payroll-related projects


how to succeed

  • Experience: 5–8 years or more Must have up-to-date knowledge of the following systems: ADP Perman, Workday, Primetime T&A system.of demonstrable relevant work experience in payroll administration at a senior level. Previous experience within J&J is highly desirable 

  • Education: Minimum MBO+ level education, preferably supplemented with a VPS certification.

  • System knowledge: Must have up-to-date knowledge of the following systems: ADP Perman, Workday, Primetime T&A system.

  • Availability: You are available for a minimum of 32 hours, but preferably 40 hours per week.

  • Knowledge: You have excellent and up-to-date knowledge regarding tax, social security, and international laws and regulations.

  • IT Skills: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in English.

  • Competencies: You can handle a dynamic work environment in a matrix organization, are service-oriented, are strongly procedure-based, have an affinity for IT applications, and have a flexible "getting things done" mentality and are a team player.

This role offers a very competitive hourly rate. This contract will run for a 6 month period and has a strong chance of extension.
