EHSS Support Design & Change

Location: Main office is in Beerse (role requires visits to all J&J sites within Belgium)

Working mode: Hybrid, 3 days on-site/s and 2 working from home

Duration: Until the end of 2024 (opportunity for an extension)

Hours: 32-40 hours per week

Pay rate range: Competitive hourly rate

Why contractor: Temporary additional projects leading to extra workload for a shorter period, necessitating temporary support for the internal design & change EHSS team.

roles and responsibilities

  • You lead EHS (environment, health & safety) design and review meetings in collaboration with project leaders from other departments.

  • You guide EHS impact assessments for changes at various J&J sites in Belgium.

  • You can provide generalist advice on EHS topics in various domains (process safety, personal safety, environment, etc.) for changes or design aspects. For specialized knowledge, you reach out to various other experts.

  • You carry out legal commissioning for changes, new equipment and changed or new workplaces and create/write the corresponding reports in the J&J systems.


how to succeed

  • You hold the certificate of prevention advisor.

  • You have a strong general knowledge regarding safety and health at work, as well as the necessary practical experience. Knowledge of environmental legislation is a plus. Technical knowledge/experience is a plus.

  • You have knowledge and/or experience in cross-sectoral companies like J&J (pharma, consumer, medical devices).

  • Experience working in the (petro)chemical sector, production, or production-supportive environment and knowledge of chemical processes are assets.

  • Experience in project management is an additional asset.

  • You have good communication skills and can interact with people at all levels within the organization.

  • You are flexible and willing to travel to different sites in Belgium (Geel, Beerse, Olen, Merksem, Gent, Courcelles, La Louvière, Diegem, Brussels).

  • You can work independently, take initiative, and responsibility.

  • You have a good knowledge of Dutch and English (reading, writing, and speaking). Good knowledge of French is a plus.
