EHS Specialist


Location: Ringaskiddy, Cork

Duration: 12 months

Hours: 39, on-site


Working within the site EH&S team, this person acts as an SME and advisor to all Business Units / functions on site in relation to health & safety matters to support day to day base business. Assists with the design, implementation, maintenance and review of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programmes to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate and industry requirements. 


roles and responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all relevant company policies and standards, site procedures are adhered to and that all regulatory requirements are met.

  • Provide support to functions for Incident & accident investigation 

  • Provides EHS support to the introduction of management of change process 

  • Assist in the preparation, implementation and review of EHS Procedures and other EHS documents appropriate to the scope of site activities and in compliance with J&J requirements.

  • Provide technical support for the site risk assessment / JSA programme and assist in implementing appropriate control measures for identified risks.

  • Collating and reporting of EH&S metrics / KPIs

  • Develop, support and delivery of EHS training programs

  • Perform periodic walkdowns / audits / programme reviews to ensure compliance with safety and environmental permits, plans, policies and regulatory requirements.

how to succeed

  • 3rd level degree in EHS, science or engineering or other related discipline.

  • At least 3 years experience in an EHS role in a regulatory environment

  • Sound knowledge of EHS legislation

  • Good written, oral communication & interpersonal skills

  • Highly proactive, mature judgement and decision making ability

  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability

  • Self-directed & demonstrated efficient work methods, problem solving skills & ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel & Powerpoint

  • Familiar with environmental management systems (ISO 14001) & health and safety management system (ISO 45001) 


Preferred Requirements:

  • Green Belt certified

  • Process safety qualification / experience

  • Machine safety qualification / experience
