EHS Specialist

Working within the site EH&S team, this person acts as an SME and advisor to all departments on site in relation to health & safety matters, with particular support for chemical management and industrial hygiene programs that enable day-to-day base business. Assists with the design, implementation, maintenance and review of health & safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate and industry requirements, including chemical risk management and appropriate workplace controls.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ensuring that all relevant company policies and standards, site procedures are adhered to and that all regulatory requirements are met and in compliance with J&J requirements.
Provide support to functions for Incident & accident investigation.
Provides EHS support to the introduction of management of change process.
Provide technical support for the site risk assessment / JSA programme, chemical management program including chemical and occupational exposure risk assessment and assist in implementing appropriate control measures for identified risks.
Perform periodic walkdowns / audits / programme reviews to ensure compliance with safety and environmental permits, plans, policies and regulatory requirements.
How to Succeed
3rd level degree in EHS, science or engineering or other related discipline. Industrial hygiene or occupational exposure assessment experience would be an advantage.
At least 3 years experience in an EHS role in a regulatory environment.
Sound knowledge of EHS legislation, with awareness of occupational health and industrial hygiene requirements.
Good written, oral communication & interpersonal skills.
Highly proactive, mature judgement and decision-making ability.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Self-directed & demonstrated efficient work methods, problem solving skills & ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in use of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel & Powerpoint.
