Human Resources Manager ( Employee Relations & Labor Relations)

Location: Beerse  

Duration: 6 months contract (3 days onsite, 2 days home working)

Hours: 40h

Languages: Dutch & English Fluent , French preferred


The Role: 

The HR ERLR manager is accountable for effective management of all Employee Relations matters, such as grievance, discipline and performance management, employment policy interpretation and Labor Relations matters which includes negotiations with unions, information /consultation with Work Councils and external Stakeholders.You will proactively provide expert testimony in legal proceedings related to labor and employee relations.

Act as advisor on matters related to the administration of contracts, employee discipline and grievance procedures.

You drive initiatives to increase Employment and Labor Relations awareness towards our Business Leaders and employees and you are the person to go when it comes to coaching and advising our workforce on Employment and Labor Relations matters.You will be joining a (country cluster) team, embedded in the broader HR function, however specialized in the fields of employee and labor relations, responsible for all ERLR matters in the Johnson & Johnson landscape in Belgium.

Your reporting line will be to the Employee and Labor Relations Leader of BENENORD (Belgium, Netherlands & ; Nordics)

Key Responsibilities:

Your main duties and responsibilities are summed up in three main pillars:

Case Handling

  • Daily assigned case handling (labor & employment law related matters) to secure appropriate resolution of service requests within defined time periods, levels of accuracy and quality standards and customer satisfaction levels

  • Case handling will be done by using standard tools, processes and guidelines to research/investigate concerns, to identify policy violations and evaluate findings to ensure appropriate actions are consistently administered.

Advisory

  • Counsel /train/support and enable our organization (People Leaders and HR) in Employment and Labor Law and Employee & Labor Relations matters (grievance, discipline and performance management)

  • Lead & assist collective bargaining agreement negotiations, union delegation meetings and WC consultations

  • Legal advisor for workforce events (Divestitures, Restructuring)

  • Monitor Belgium labor law legislation and define training/information to other HR functional groups/business

  • Conduct the investigation and resolution of employee grievances

  • Act as mediator or arbitrator in case of employment issues

  • Act as a business liaison between in-house counsel and outside counsel

  • Acts as Guardian of our Credo

Projects

  • Support activities around HR related projects including acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, labor contracts and policies

  • Manage the operational plans to increase the effectiveness of services while improving the customer experience

  • Create and provide training on various ERLR topics and procedures

  • Implement best practices, skills, processes and tools for the ER/LR

  • Review and present labor/employee relations trends and conducts risk assessments



Qualifications & Experience

  • HR Leader with expertise in Employment and Labor Law or experienced Labor Law advisor interested in transitioning into HR

  • University/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required. With preference of study area in Employment Law, HR, Psych or related field.

  • 3 + years HR experience with a concentration in Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and HR legal experience researching, investigating, and addressing employee misconduct and below job performance standards; providing guidance to management

  • Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

  • Experience managing, planning, and implementing projects and strategic change initiatives.

  • Wide and storing experience in working with Employee Representative Bodies (e.g. Workers Council or Unions) on information and consultation, negotiating collective agreements and dismissals.

  • Experience in coaching, conflict management, & training employees and managers.

  • Influence leadership skills, in an indirect, matrix-based, and virtual environment with understanding and appreciation for regional differences.

  • Able to deal with conflict and stressful situations, can be resilient. Able to detach and maintain a good work-life balance.

  • Enthusiastic teammate with a strong aim to create a positive work environment by facilitation, collaboration, pride, trust, and creating a group identity.

  • Socially adaptable and flexible. Respectful, has high organizational awareness and political savviness.

  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct. Is considered as a role model.

  • Analytical and strategic problem solver.

  • Strong presentation skills: can speak across various forums and communicate to broad, diverse audience.

  • Experience using Case Management tools

  • Dutch speaking and Fluent English skills are required, French language skills are preferred
