The Role:
Janssen UK is recruiting a Patient Engagement and Advocacy Manager within our UK Operating Company. The team is based out of our High Wycombe office. This role is remote but will require Occasional travel within the UK as well as regular attendance at vital Head Office face-to-face meetings.
Purpose of the Role:
- Pro-actively build and maintain relationships and be the Janssen single point of contact (SPOC) for key UK Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) within assigned therapy areas
- Identify and project manage partnerships with PAGs to benefit patients
- Interact with PAGs and where appropriate, patients and caregivers, to shape the external healthcare environment and support patient access
- Represent Janssen UK with PAGs with regards to all issues associated with the UK business to ensure Janssen’s perspective is heard and viewed positively and from time to time engage with other stakeholders, such as NHS, social care and Government
officials
- Support the development and execution of the Janssen UK PE&A strategy
- Provide strategic counsel on patient engagement and advocacy and how it relates to the business
- Champion patient centricity across Janssen
- Create PAG events - Projects, partnerships and contributions (iConnect approval required)
- Ensure compliance to ABPI Code of practice and Janssen SOPs
- Take ownership of Janssen SOP relating to patient engagement in the UK
- Actively participate in Health Affairs and Patient Access key team meetings
- Contribute to annual PAG data disclosures (TOV)
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be the Janssen single point of contact (SPOC) for key UK Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) within assigned therapy areas including:
- Project management, regular reporting of progress and status updates to Janssen and its partners
- Horizon scanning and provision of updates on significant external developments
- Provision of insight and strategic counsel to business partners
- Close alignment with colleagues in Health Affairs function to ensure we are making the most of J&J strategy and positions
- Ensure compliance with the ABPI Code and SOPs (including iConnect project approvals and iMR materials approval)
- Deliver and drive initiatives that enhance Janssen’s desire to be the most patient-centred company across all therapy areas where it has products
- Execute in line with UK PE&A strategy and align with Global and Regional PE&A strategies to ensure continuity across the business
Relationships with CVTs and Global/EMEA PE&A networks:
- Maintain relationships with colleagues across the UK as well as EMEA and Global to ensure that synergies in the J&J Health Affairs approach can be harmonised, leveraged and best practice shared
- Actively participate in CVT meetings for assigned therapy areas on a per-agenda basis and in discussion with CVT or commercial leads
- Actively participate in EMEA and Global PE&A networks when needed
External relationships:
- Interact with PAGs and where appropriate, patients and caregivers, to shape the external healthcare environment and support patient access
- Actively engage and contribute to policy discussions involving PAGs in assigned therapy areas
Maintaining technical knowledge:
- Review literature, refer to websites, subscribe to email alerts, attend conferences, courses and discuss developments with colleagues to keep up to date on the latest NHS, government and third sector policies
- Keep abreast of changes in the external environment and understand implications for our current and future products
Other activities:
- Answer requests from PAGs, requests for input into consultations and relevant internal colleagues concerning patient engagement and advocacy in a timely manner
- Work with therapy area colleagues from the HEMAR team within Patient Access to support patient-centred HTA submissions and activities that bring the patient voice into the heart of our access strategies
Key Compliance Requirements:
- Complete all allocated compliance and SOP training in a timely way e.g. annual Drug Safety Training, and act according to guidelines etc., stated within these programmes and documents
- Comply with designated SOP’s for the role
- Acts in accordance with Johnson and Johnson HCC requirements
- If commissioning contractors or third party organisations, put contracts in place and provide training so that these individuals/teams also act in accordance with J&J HCC requirements and report Adverse Events and complaints
- Adhere to team processes, ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with appropriate local, EMEA and global SOPs
- Contribute to development of team processes to ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with appropriate local, EMEA and Global SOPs
- Provide appropriate guidance to EMEA and Global colleagues to ensure that the ABPI code, local requirements and SOPs are adhered to for all interactions with UK PAGs, patients and caregivers
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Degree qualification - desirable
- At least 5 years of experience working in one of these sectors – Pharma, NHS/government, patient group - essential
- Experience working in third sector - desirable
