Location: Leiden - hybrid working (3 days onsite, 2 days home office)

Imagine your next project driving the technical breakthroughs that bring life-changing medicines from the lab to the patient. As a Process Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, maintaining and improving production processes while leading supportive processes to ensure continuous improvement.

You’ll work closely with management and operations to drive decisions regarding process engineering and methods, aiming to produce comprehensive processes, operational efficiencies, and alignment with production goals. Your effective communication skills will be key as you interact with both internal and external customers.

roles and responsibilities


You will embody Johnson & Johnson’s Leadership Imperatives and Credo in your daily interactions, setting a positive example for the team.

This will involve:

  • Take ownership of Operations unit objectives, such as the introduction of new production processes and systems.

  • Supervise and continuously assess the process to ensure it operates within validated and regulatory limits.

  • Collaborate multi-functionally to develop strategies and implement improvements to minimize downtime.

  • Lead the management of data collection, analysis, and reporting to drive continuous process improvement.

  • Initiate and drive process improvements and support formal issue processes related to safety, quality, and compliance.

  • Act as the go-to guide for sophisticated Product Impact Assessments and Change Control designs.

  • Conduct Gemba walks and lead sustainable improvements to enhance safety, quality, and reliability.

  • Engage in Continuous Process Verification (CPV) activities.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for inspections and audits.



how to succeed


You are an analytical thinker who thrives in complex, regulated environments and can maintain calm under pressure while handling changing priorities.

You will also bring:

  • A relevant University degree or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of chromatography.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience within a pharmaceutical environment.

  • Experience with purification, non-conformances, and change of control.

  • Dutch A2 and English C1 language levels.

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office and data analysis.

  • A positive demeanor, proactivity, and strong organizational skills.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-functional team.
