Procurement Specialist - Capital projects


Location: Gent, Belgium - Hybrid working - Minimum 3 days a week on site

Duration: 12 months

Hours: 40 hours


We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage the procurement of Capital Equipment and Capital Construction for our cell and gene manufacturing projects. This role requires strong stakeholder management and the ability to achieve and report procurement cost savings. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in capital project procurement and demonstrate proficiency in supplier relationship management.


roles and responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement process for Capital Equipment and Capital Construction, engaging with external partners.

  • Negotiate payment terms, payment milestones, and package discounts during commercial bid evaluations.

  • Circulate fully negotiated package recommendations to System Owners and project leads for approval, ensuring timely follow-up for purchase order creation.

  • Issue RFI/RFP/RFQs to external stakeholders, manage supplier relationships, and effectively negotiate while undertaking appropriate risk management.

  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly project updates for Core Team Meetings, Townhalls, and Sponsor Meetings.

  • Facilitate regular procurement update meetings with project partners.

  • Project manage the procurement of Laboratory & In Process Testing (IPT) Equipment.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, PMO, Engineering, and various System Owners/System Users.

  • Escalate procurement issues and actively participate in vendor calls to resolve challenges.

  • Manage the delivery of Non-EU equipment with a focus on maximizing customs duty savings.


how to succeed

  • 4-6 years of procurement experience, specifically supporting capital construction projects in the drug cell and gene manufacturing sector.

  • Knowledge of Procure to Pay cycle and shared services center operations.

  • Strong familiarity with procurement systems (e.g., Ariba, Sap,Scout, Salesforce.com).

  • Proven track record of efficiently working both remotely and onsite ( project location is GENT (Belgium) with business partners and suppliers.

  • Experience collaborating with functions such as contracting, legal, finance, engineering, and operations.

  • Proficiency in procurement processes and practices.

  • Fluent in English and Dutch (must have)
