Quality Assurance Laboratory Specialist


Location: Schaffhausen

Working mode: Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site and 2 WFH

Duration: 12 months

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Language requirements: English and German

Join our team in Schaffhausen as a QA Lab Specialist for a critical 12-month contract with the potential for extension, supporting our Cilag Schaffhausen Operations. This hybrid role is centred on providing essential quality assurance oversight for research and release laboratories, focusing heavily on hands-on responsibilities such as handling non-conformances, conducting CAPA and process risk assessments, managing document updates, and acting as the key quality representative in a high-stakes environment. To succeed, applicants must possess a Master’s Degree (or a Bachelor’s with extensive experience) in a relevant scientific or engineering field, must have practical experience in an analytical laboratory, and demonstrate essential analytical thinking and strong communication skills in English and German. Experience in QA or QC within a pharma/medical device or other regulated industry is highly desirable for this fast-paced and high-visibility position.

roles and responsibilities

  • Act as a quality representative in all topics related to quality control.

  • Assess and approval of non-conformances related to quality control.

  • Assess and approval of changes related to quality control and development projects.

  • Review and approval of project related documents (analytical transfer protocols, analytical transfer reports, CCIT protocols/reports, method validation documents, project plans, etc.).

  • Drive and coordinate improvements in the laboratories on quality related topics.

  • Quality Oversight activities in QC laboratories


how to succeed

  • A Masters’ Degree in engineering, physical, biological, natural sciences or another related field is required or a Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant industry based experience.

  • Strong understanding of analytics, if possible, in a Quality Control environment is desirable. 

  • min. 2+ year of experience in quality in a pharma/medical device or other regulated industry is desirable. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

  • Willingness to support the team also at late hours or at the weekend where required.
