Imagine your next project as R&D Lab Technician. Your responsibility is to provide ongoing support to the R&D Department for all laboratory activities performed at various phases of a design project e.g. prototype development and testing, design verification and validation testing. Perform testing, record and analyse test results in line with approved test methods, and procedures, adhering to principles of GDP. Manage the introduction of new equipment plus the on-going maintenance and calibration of existing laboratory equipment. Development of new test methods and design of fixturing as required at key project stages.

This will involve: 

  • Ongoing R&D support.

  • Manage equipment calibration.

  • Product testing.

  • Compiling of test results.

  • Laboratory equipment/inventory maintenance.

  • Test method development.

  • Tooling/fixture design.

  • Introduction of new equipment.

  • Generation of technical reports.

  • Liaise with external suppliers for supply of components and services.

  • Ordering and handling of chemicals.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

how to succeed

  • Diploma in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Approximately 12 months experience in a medical device design or manufacturing

  • environment.

  • Design and technical ability based on a broad and deep knowledge of fundamental

  • engineering principles.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Excellent written and communication skills, fluency in English.

  • Proficiency in MS office products.

  • Strong work ethic, creative problem solving, capable of working on own initiative.

  • Results and deadline driven with an ability to handle multiple tasks and operate in a

  • fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people to achieve results.

  • Highly motivated and an enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to work under own.

  • Experience with CAD packages e.g. Solidworks, AutoDesk Inventor.
