Location: Nijmegen, Netherlands - site based

Duration: 6 months 

Hours: Full time


Purpose of Position

To assist in research and testing which supports development of products or procedures, collect and manage data, provide technical surgical assistance during animate and inanimate labs, and coordinate appropriate project/study logistics while ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance


roles and responsibilities

  • Support the Study Director and Preclinical Sponsor Representatives in the preparation and conduct of preclinical research studies which support development of products or procedures utilizing in-vivo, ex-vivo, and in-vitro model

  • Plan and perform experimental work, process and analyze data, and report on R&D projects, which may include:

    • Producing and finetuning potential new products and production processes

    • developing and validating analytical methods for testing existing and potential new products

  • Develop study related documentation which meets SOP and protocol requirements:

    • Develop study specific data sheets 

    • Document study data required by protocol and SOP 

    • Archive study files as per SOP 

    • Interface with principal investigators and contributing scientists in support of studies conducted on-site and at a contract laboratory 

    •  Support the study director with the preparation of draft study protocols and reports

  • Surgical Assistance in animate and inanimate labs 

  • Provide R&D support for Non-Conformances, Corrective And Preventive Actions, deviations and audit-related activities.

  • Support installation, qualification and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  • Contribute to operational tasks related to R&D, including but not limited to:

  • stock management,

  • preparing purchase orders for laboratory consumables and chemicals,

  • conducting incoming inspections,

  • maintaining organization within the R&D laboratories and warehouse.


how to succeed

Required: 

  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Mathematics, or a related STEM field. 

  • Experience working in pharmaceutical or medical device industry

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-developing work field

  • Ability to convey complex information from multiple disciplines

  • Able to set priorities and use time wisely to meet deadlines

  • Clear in communication, strong sense of accountability, able to admit mistakes

  • Surgical support experience; comfortable assisting at the table during surgical procedures and working with blood

  • Safety-minded in the way you organize your workspace and conduct yourself 

  • Basic computer proficiency; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant laboratory equipment software.


Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience with various analytical techniques such as NMR, SEC, KF or FTIR.

  • Experience in analytical method development and validation.

  • Proficiency in the Dutch language, both verbal and written.
