Imagine your next role as a Scientist where you  will be part of the upstream process development team at TDS API Protein Leiden.


Job Description:

The candidate’s academic foundations in bioprocess technology and cell culture technology will be brought into practice by supporting upstream process development activities, scale up and tech transfer activities and authoring technical reports to support regulatory filings. The candidate is responsible for the design and execution of upstream studies for large molecule therapeutic proteins. We value innovation, scientific rigor, leadership, initiative, and personal accountability. 



You will contribute to project plans, ensure delivery of business results and ensure that these are executed. You will work with greater autonomy for longer term activities with some supervision, interpreting data/results and proposing next steps. You will solve issues that may not be immediately evident, using existing or new procedures and techniques. Solve & present unsolicited ideas to project and group. Build as well capabilities for the team (e.g. analytical techniques, equipment). You will also explain work with independent analysis and conclusions in the context of the project with some guidance through verbal and written communication and will have the majority of interactions with peers and members of the project team within the department.



Main Responsibilities



  • Writes Upstream process study plans and reports with some guidance. Validates study results and interpretates data

  • Defines with some guidance follow-up studies based on interpretations and conclusions

  • Uses expertise in the execution of projects

  • Introduces new methods, procedure, and equipment. May also transfer and implement new methods or techniques or procedure.

  • As scientific owner trains people on the theoretical background of the analytical techniques

  • Holds self and others accountable to laboratory safety and standard procedures and improves current approaches

  • Information Management

  • Carries out data verification for studies and regulatory submissions

  • Reports with some guidance results and conclusions to project team and senior colleagues

  • Collaborates effectively with fellow project members following priorities, milestones and timelines in support of objectives



The ideal candidate for this position should have:

  • A relevant Masters degree. 

  • Relevant & proven experience, in a (bio)pharmaceutical company and/or academic institution. 

  • Experience with laboratory work and/or pilot plant is an advantage.

  • Present work to external consultants and at in-house research forums.
