The Cell and Gene Therapy Analytics (CGTA) team is a dynamic group which is part of the Cell and Gene Therapy Analytical Development (CGT AD) in Leiden, responsible for developing methods to release our (viral) vector products (e.g. based on Adenovirus, AAV, lentivirus and RNA). Together, we use molecular, biochemical, separations and cell-based technologies to assess quantity, potency, purity, and identity characteristics of our products. We have a pivotal role between the process development, quality unit and regulatory authorities

roles and responsibilities

• Actively shares technical expertise in biophysical technologies, such as liquid chromatography (LC), light scattering and capillary electrophoresis (CE), and biochemical technologies, such as ELISA, in order to drive selection and implementation of the most suitable technology. 

• Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team and driving method development using AQbD principles up to and including validation activities of the team as a whole.

• Aims to shape the life cycle management from development up to and including validation of methods for release and stability of our products with accurate and precise hands-on experimental involvement. 

• Acts as a technical lead to strengthen our product development strategy.

• Has strong capabilities to collaborate with scientists across multiple disciplines.

• Takes ownership as author in the preparation of presentations, reports and documents for regulatory filing and patents.

• Supports the continuous improvement of an efficient and safe lab organization and contributing to data digitalization.

how to succeed

• PhD degree (or equivalent) in analytical chemistry or life sciences or an MSc with at least 5 years of experience with analytical method development in the pharmaceutical industry. 

• Deep understanding of separation-based and biochemical technologies and broad comprehension of method development principles for (viral) vector product development/commercialization process and GMP is required. In particular, the following:

  • Deep knowledge of separation-based and biochemical technologies, such as capillary or gel electrophoresis, liquid chromatography and ELISA, octet or MSD

• Broad interest and scientific understanding of (viral) vectors

• Proven strategic experimental design and practical lab skills

• Preferably also, pharmaceutical experience in method development (according ICH Q2) and quality systems such as GMP for cell and gene therapy and/or vaccine products 

• The candidate should have the following skills:

  • Assertive with a can do mentality

  • Great teammate

  • Organizational sensitivity and conflict resolution skills

  • Critical attitude valuing accuracy in the execution of your work and that of others

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

This role offers a very competitive hourly rate. This contract will run for a 12 month duration. This is an on-site position.
