Senior Maintenance Engineer

Location: Leiden 

Duration: 12 months contract

Hours: 40h

Imagine your next role as a Senior Maintenance Engineer where you will ensure the optimal operation, safety, and efficiency of all facilities and equipment within a site. 



Main Responsibilities:


  • Develops and manages the complete Asset strategy, including improvement proposals and roadmaps for implementation.

  • Supports the Senior Asset Management Engineer in setting up and maintaining the Asset strategy, SAMP, and relevant AMPs.

  • Initiates and monitors improvement proposals for new techniques, methodologies, and asset modifications.

  • Creates the Long-Term Investment Plan (LTIP) for asset replacement/modification, considering future demands.

  • Leads and supports project proposals for asset replacement/modification, ensuring alignment with the long-term strategy.

  • Determines optimal monitoring methods for assets, including necessary alarms and limits.

  • Contributes to introducing new assets and major modifications, ensuring proper project handover to Asset Management.

  • Participates as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in development projects, aligning with Asset Management and standardization goals.

  • Leads maintenance shutdowns, supports complex maintenance issues, and executes compliance investigations and CAPAs.

  • Improves compliance systems and contributes to root cause analysis for critical assets.

  • Provides technical expertise as a maintenance management SME, advising on spare part management, asset configuration data, and supplier contracts.

  • Leads and manages Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) sessions, and develops Preventive Maintenance Plans (PMPs).

  • Reviews and assesses suppliers' annual maintenance plans, and optimizes technical documentation and operational procedures.

  • Develops and monitors performance indicators for asset health, and oversees internal audits.

  • Trains and guides less experienced staff, while participating in the EVM 24/7 service to ensure the safety and operation of critical systems.



The ideal candidate for this position should have:


  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Installation Technics or Process Engineering 

  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering 

  • Pharmaceutical Utility Systems (like HPW, Pure steam, HVAC, gas systems)

  • Project management

  • Laboratory and Pharmaceutical (GMP) production environment

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry guidelines specific for the pharmaceutical industry and maintenance & engineering (e.g. GMP, VCA, RCM, CE, NEN3140, etc…).
