Senior Project Control Specialist

Location: Leiden, Netherlands (Hybrid working - 3 days on site, 2 remote days)

Duration: 12 month contract

Hours: 40 hours


Imagine your next project as a Senior Project Control Specialist, where you will manage the operational project portfolio, set working plans for each project phase, and drive accountability while mentoring colleagues to foster professional growth.

The employee is acquainted with the annual company and division goals and is aware of how he/she can influence these through his/her performance. Position is based in Leiden and offers hybrid working arrangement.


roles and responsibilities

  • Specialism within the field of project control

  • Manages the operational project portfolio and sets working plans for each project phase, alongside assisting in crafting and executing the project's scope of work, resource allocation, cost estimates, and schedule management.

  • Experience in process improvement and change management;

  • Identifies and implements improvements in process and organisation;

  • Drafts Request for proposals for complex projects and presents results to senior level management.

  • Leads the yearly LRFP, BP, JU and NU process.

  • Leads project reviews and checkpoint meetings, overseeing monitoring activities to identify risks and opportunities while escalating issues that may threaten the success of the portfolio and projects.

  • Coaches more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.​

  • Designs systems to analyze, monitor, and track cost-spend data, assess risk-benefit ratios, and provide insight on business impact and manages the Operational financial project updates.

  • Takes ownership of personal training and ensures that all required training is understood and completed on time.

  • Enhance a culture of belonging through trusting, divers, & inclusive relationships.

  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure activities adhere to internal and external regulations and procedures.

  • Manages work according to a schedule.


how to succeed

  • A relevant HBO degree with 7 years relevant experience.

  • English B2 language level is required.

  • The levels of computer proficiency are intermediate level for MS office, specialist level for data analysis, and analyst level for business applications.

  • Positive attitude, proactivity, decisive, and organized with the ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Maintain a high level of stress-resistance, ensuring calm and steady performance in all situations, and supporting team members in managing stress.

  • High degree of accuracy and quality attitude.

  • Articulate proposals to stakeholders, shaping the decision-making on complex processes and ensuring initiatives are framed within the business and departmental objectives.

  • Mentor colleagues by providing guidance, sharing expertise, and fostering professional growth.
