J&J Innovative Medicine has a growing pipeline of products requiring stronger supply chain capabilities including cold chain operations to support this demand. The Cold Chain Operations team, CCO, is responsible for orchestrating the storage, handling, and logistics of cold chain product intermediates, API, and Drug Product across the Make supply chain. CCO leads deployment of offsite storage solutions, optimizes the flow of cold chain products, and drives the long-term strategy for cold chain management in the Biotherapeutics and Synthetics platforms.

The (Senior) Cold Chain Scheduler role within Cold Chain Operations (CCO) is responsible for planning and coordination of cold chain shipment activities in coordination with a 3PL external cold chain storage provider, ensuring compliant, timely, and cost‑effective material flows across the supply chain. The role provides operational ownership of shipment planning and coordination, supports key supply chain initiatives, and contributes to continuous improvement, digital enablement, and performance governance across the cold chain network.


roles and responsibilities.

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant execution of shipment-related system transactions in SAP for assigned 3PL external cold chain storage provider(s).

  • Own end-to-end shipment coordination with the 3PL external cold chain storage provider, including the consolidation and distribution of weekly shipment plans.

  • Act as primary point of contact for the 3PL external storage provider across planning, execution, and issue resolution.

  • Lead weekly operational coordination meetings with the 3PL and internal stakeholders.

  • Partner closely with sending and receiving sites, Planning, Transportation, Quality, and Cold Chain Operations to ensure aligned shipment execution.

  • Partner closely with 3PL Shipper logistics provider to ensure timely availability of shippers, trailers and trolleys in support of shipment plans.

  • Coordinate transport execution, including HR33 and trailer planning, in collaboration with Cold Chain Operations.

  • Proactively manage shipment schedule changes, exceptions, and risks, engaging Cold Chain Operations, planners and other relevant stakeholders ahead of execution.

  • Support Cold Chain Operations account manager with recurring and ad hoc 3PL account related tasks, such as monthly invoice verifications and budgeting.

  • Prepare and consolidate quarterly CSOP decks, providing clear shipment- and quality performance insights, risks, trends, and key discussion points for governance reviews.

  • Support definition, alignment, and standardisation of operational metrics with the 3PL cold chain storage provider.

  • Support development and deployment of digital process improvements within shipment management systems.

  • Provide hypercare support for sites when material flows to or from the 3PL external storage provider.

  • Support key supply chain initiatives, including cold chain tech transfers, new shipper deployments, and cost improvement projects.

  • Contribute benchmarking insights to support future 3PL external cold chain storage set-ups.



how to succeed.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in supply chain logistics, cold chain operations, or shipment scheduling within a regulated (GxP) environment.

  • Expertise in multi-node cold chain logistics capacity planning, preferably within pharmaceuticals.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong prioritization skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and partner across organizational boundaries.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems (e.g. SAP); experience with digital tools preferred.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

  • Flexibility to work hours accommodating global work schedules, balancing professional and personal time.

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as business needs require.
