Spare Parts Technician

Location: Barnahely, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork (On-site)

Duration: 12-month contract

Hours: Two-shift pattern (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday–Wednesday, and 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM Thursday–Friday with an alternating Thursday handover)

Operates out of the Facilities Store and Maintenance Office as part of a 5-person team. The job holder is responsible for managing the inventory of spare parts and ensuring the efficient operation of the storage area. This role involves receiving, storing, and issuing spare parts while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safety standards in accordance with J&J policies and standards.

roles and responsibilities

• Storage and handling of Spare Parts and Consumables: Ensure the Stores area is compliant with health & safety guidelines and ensure that any issues are highlighted in a timely manner. Ensure all Spare Parts are handled in accordance with health & safety guidelines. Ensure that the Stores area is kept clean and tidy at all times. Implement best practices with respect to the storage of spare parts and consumables.

• Receiving and Inspection: Accept deliveries from Main Warehouse daily. Check part against delivery paperwork, purchase order, and SAP to ensure the correct part has been delivered. If any parts are damaged, photographs are taken of the damaged parts and sent to purchasing. If certification is needed and has been received, it is stored with the spare part in its location. Complete the GR process in SAP, in accordance with TV-WI-39689.

• Kit Preparation: Ensure all kits are prepared and ready in a timely manner in accordance with the Maintenance PM and Calibration Schedule. Attend all meetings as appropriate with Maintenance Schedulers/Planners in relation to Work Order Planning & Execution and associated Spare Part availability. Support KPI targets for Kit availability.

• Cycle Count: Perform periodic cycle counts in accordance with TV-TEC-94802 & TV-WI-22478. Distribute cycle count reports to relevant stakeholders to keep them updated on inventory accuracy. Highlight significant findings, discrepancies, and recommended actions in these reports to facilitate informed decision making. Develop action plans to address any recurring discrepancies.

• Documentation Management: Ensure all documentation in relation to Spare Parts is stored in accordance with GMP. Maximize the use of electronic forms of documentation and storage in order to optimize the ease of document retrieval and navigation.

• System Maintenance: Ensure spare parts are set up in a timely manner for all new systems as per TV-WI-39358. Where a system is decommissioned, ensure the appropriate Spare Parts are written off the system. Ensure all changes to Spare Parts data are made in accordance with TV-WI-23221. Ensure all Spare Parts have the correct classification as per TV-TEC-94802.

• Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement projects which seek to further optimize the Spare Parts & Stores processes. Constantly seek to identify continuous improvement opportunities within the Spares & Stores processes.

• Collaboration: Actively participate in maintaining effective working relationships with Procurement Service Providers such as Eriks. Work closely with other departments to ensure timely availability of parts for maintenance and repair.

• Other Duties: Ensure that personal training requirements are completed in compliance with site and role requirements. Managing goods in and out, picking parts for maintenance, processing work orders, searching parts in the system, supporting breakdowns, accurate record-keeping, and managing spare part stock levels.

• College leavers and warehouse-experienced candidates are considered with no strict prior experience required. Emphasizes a willingness to learn and develop, strong listening skills, and team alignment.

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.

• 5-10 years of related experience.

• Good understanding of all stores procedures and operations.

• Able to communicate openly, professionally, and honestly.

• Experience in SAP and Spare Parts systems.

• Working knowledge of GMP requirements.

• Able to make logical decisions within their level of authority.

• Showing initiative and continuously seeking improvement opportunities.

• Ability to build relationships with teams across the organization.

• Strong collaboration and influencing skills to partner effectively at all levels and across multiple groups.

• Strong organization and prioritization skills.

• Preferred related industry experience in healthcare, consumer goods, or electronics.

• Preferred Six Sigma/LEAN certification, but not required.

• Preferred communication skills.

• Preferred procurement knowledge and vendor management skills.

• Preferred business acumen.

• Preferred working knowledge of GxP requirements and regulations.
