Imagine your next role as a Sr. EH&S Engineer who provides engineering support to ensure Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability within Mentor Medical Systems B.V in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local EH&S policies and standards relevant to Mentor as part of Johnson & Johnson. 




The Department

Breast prostheses are produced in the Production Department. In different teams, which are managed by a (Shift) supervisor, we work on a high-quality product in various shifts of 8 hours a day. The start process is automated but the production ends as a labor-intensive and manual process. 



Responsibilities


  • Expert in Occupational Hygiene subjects (e.g. noise, ergonomics, exposure to chemicals), Transport Safety, EH&S Risk Assessments (e.g. JSA’s, Risk assessments)

  • Lead and/or support the implementation of EH&S Standards within your field of expertise

  • Coach/lead teams of EH&S Representatives and Standards Owners / SMEs as part of Integrated Ownership of Safety Standards (IOSS)

  • Perform EH&S assessments within projects and set up, lead and/or support EH&S projects (for example waste reduction, and use of chemical substances) 

  • Lead incident investigations 

  • Lead in- and external audits and inspections (for example ISO 14001, ISO 45001, J&J EH&S Audits, governmental agencies)

  • Conduct EH&S-related risk assessments like facility, ergonomic, and chemical risk assessments 

  • Give EH&S training on EH&S-related topics

  • Present periodically to the Site Leadership Team

  • Develop and/or improve EH&S processes and practices







how to succeed

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor or comparable level (chemical, mechanical, electrical)  

  • At least 5 years experience in the field or EH&S (lab, R&D, chemical and/or biological environment) 

  • Additional course Safety Manager level 3 (“HVK”) and/or Industrial Hygiene (“AH”) or comparable

  • Fluency in Dutch and English

  • Experience with international Management System Standards like ISO 14001 & ISO 45001

  • Experience with management of Emergency Response

  • Excellent communication skills, able to quickly build credibility within the site, JnJ EH&S community, external regulators, and industry.

  • Accountability, with a strong desire to commit, be held accountable,  and be rewarded for delivering results

  • Ability to recognize, build support for change and engage in constructive conflict. 

  • High tolerance for ambiguity in a complex environment

  • Ability to make the complex clear and easily understood by others

  • Ability to build partnerships both internally and externally

  • Capacity to put EH&S central to all thinking
