Strategic Sourcing Manager


Location: Cork

Reporting to the Business Unit Procurement, Platform Source Lead, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading Source activities related to E2E Supply Chain strategic projects from assessment to implementation and stabilization. Project scopes may include but are not limited to  network and/or portfolio optimization, product line extensions, product design changes and lifecycle management for base business continuity and/or profitability improvements. The role has final accountability for effectively delivering supplier performance across reliability of supply, GP improvement & Cost competitiveness and Supplier Selection (whenever applicable). 


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough assessment of the current situation and define a robust and compelling  strategy, aligned with the business and supply chain strategy as established by the Value  Stream Leader and/or TechOps Management. 

  • Build a realistic change management plan towards target, including risk identification and  proactive mitigations, and ensure timely completion until stabilization. 

  • Orchestrate supplier selection/transfer process, with appropriate cross-functional stakeholders,  to refine and optimize a competitive supply base.  

  • Lead sourcing events and supplier negotiations through RFx. 

  • Own supplier readiness and onboarding activities.  

  • Support/Lead on master data set up for Source/Procurement (SAP P01 experience required). 

  • Contribute to decision-making in key areas of the project including financial, marketing,  planning, quality and design. 

  • Ensure all areas of the supply chain (Make, Buy and Plan) are involved and engaged  throughout the project lifecycle, phase-in/phase-out activities, and provide two-way  communications between project teams and supply chain functions.  

  • Connects and aligns master production schedule with all supply chain functions (Source,  Finance, Make, Eng., Quality, Deliver, Service & Repair) and ensures seamless flow of  information and product flow to deliver customer service and inventory objectives. 

  • Provides strong connectivity with interdependent supply chain projects and ensures activities  performed are compliant with the relevant systems and procedures. 



How to Succeed

  • Required Minimum Education: Bachelors/MBA or Equivalent  

  • A minimum of 5 years of supply chain experience required.

  • Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas  of focus (Spend Management, Sourcing Strategies and Supplier Management) desired. 

  • Ability to work within a project methodological context. 

  • Ability to understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., businesses, Procurement LT,  Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain), to communicate clearly and influence at different levels of the  organization in both written & oral forms. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in bridging technical and business subject areas,  evaluating and determining appropriate risks required. 

  • Ability to build strong collaborative teams and relationships, leading cross functional/ virtual  teams where required. 

  • Ability to drive and apply continuous process improvement tools and improvements to complex  projects. 

  • Demonstrates strong decision-making ability and solution-oriented mindset in a multiple scenario environment. 

  • Applies intuition for business and financial competence to provide cross-functional  recommendations to upper management.
