EVM Department:
The Engineering-Validation-Maintenance (EVM) department is a motivated and dynamic team responsible for the technical support of all utilities, production and laboratory areas and all involved equipment at the Janssen Vaccines & Prevention site in Leiden.
We work in a challenging environment where we make great progress in developing our advanced therapies. Engineering has a large project portfolio to sustain/improve the existing environment. The Compliance group looks after the correct qualification and validation status of GMP critical equipment and processes. Furthermore, the compliance group is responsible for the overall quality and safety programs within EVM. The key-focus point of the maintenance groups (U&B, Automation and Equipment group) is asset maintenance management of all assets within JVP.
Aim of this role:
You have a strong safety background and therefore you can act as technical safety specialist. You can maintain/improve safety procedures on our site, e.g.: permit to work, LOTOTO, FARIP, working on heights, hoisting. You act as the subject matter expert and coaches/develop colleagues to improve the overall safety culture within the EVM team.
As a construction supervisor you are primarily responsible for supervision in the field during the implementation phase of engineering projects. You lead and coordinate a team of workers, subcontractors, and suppliers, assigning tasks and ensuring proper execution. You are responsible for getting all safety plans/work permits in place in accordance with safety procedures and in a timely manner.

Technical safety specialist:
Oversee, control, develop and improve safety systems, processes, and practices
Lead and / or support the implementation of safety Standards / systems within your field of expertise
Coach & develop EVM team members to increase the safety culture
Conduct safety related risk assessments
Support safety assessments for projects within your area of expertise
Participate in internal and external audits and inspections (for example ISO 14001.2015, J&J EH&S Audits, regulatory compliance, governmental agencies)
Lead/participate incident investigations
Develop and provide safety trainings
Construction supervisor:
Project Oversight: Supervise daily construction activities, ensuring the project is progressing according to the schedule and plans.
Team Management: Lead and coordinate a team of workers, subcontractors, and suppliers, assigning tasks and ensuring proper execution.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe work environment, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
Quality Assurance: Monitor work quality and adherence to standards, conducting inspections and resolving issues as they arise.
Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and other supervisors.
Problem-Solving: Identify and address potential construction challenges proactively, providing solutions to ensure workflow continuity.

Qualifications:
You have excellent construction management skills, in particular: leadership, time management, communication, organizational, adaptability and team management skills to implement technical changes in a successful and sustainable manner.
You are dedicated to identifying systemic issues and effectively addressing them through practical Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) solutions that comply with both local and national regulations, as well as J&J Standards. This process involves close collaboration with colleagues throughout the organization. You are only satisfied when improvements are sustainable. You have a “can do” mentality and see improving the EH&S performance as a collective responsibility. You prefer to focus on long term solutions while you coach others to do the same.
Education, experience, and knowledge necessary for this function:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
A minimum of 7+ years in the field of construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
Experience with international Management System Standards like ISO14001
You are experienced in working in complex organizations with multiple levels during times of change
Able to connect to the business and able to understand the business needs
Strong communicator who is credible and self-assured
Additional course secondary safety expert (“MVK”) or comparable can lead to preference
Proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English (Hiring Manager would consider only English speaking candidates as well)
