Operational Tasks

Aim of the position Contact person for automation questions, automation projects and/or adaptation work on new or existing systems, as well as maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs in the automation area



Essential duties

Operational 

  • Development and implementation of automation projects 
  • Independently processing demanding overall projects in the areas of automation 
  • Maintain and ensure proper operation of Automation systems § Meeting and controlling deadlines 
  • Defining automation strategy, concepts and implementing proposals 
  • Collaboration in investment projects in the area of automation /alarm concept 
  • Responsible for the allocated assignments on technical competence 
  • Coordinating and supervising alarm management between the Control System Operator and the IT Department 
  • Implementing software changes and documentation 
  • Maintaining technical documentation and compiling VIH checklists of automated systems 
  • Coordinating preventive maintenance of automated systems 
  • Defining guidelines, SOPs, maintenance and supporting contracts with suppliers 
  • Supporting the Maintenance Team in the area of control technology (MSR) § On-call service (approx. 1 per month for 7 days) 
     
  • Financial: 
    Compliance with the budget defined in the projects 
    Personnel: · Ensuring following of training on automation-specific applications within Technical Services


    Requirements

    Competencies Education: 

 

EMSR Technician: Education/training in the field of electrical engineering / measurement and control technology or automation or comparable  
 

General: 

  • Resident near Bern (max. 1 hour drive [intervention time requirement for on-call service]) 
     

 

Quality: 
 

  • Working knowledge of GMP, technical understanding of PLC and computer systems 
  • Experience in inspections 
     

Technical: 

  • Knowledge of computerized systems in general and maintenance management control system 
  • Understanding of computerized systems qualifications 
  • Experience with common Fieldbus networks, HMIs and SCADA systems 
  • Experience with operation of automation infrastructure (Network, servers and services associated).
     

Management Skills: 

  • Initiative spirit, ability to work under pressure, ability to take decisions, judgement, independence, conscientious way of working 
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, assess priorities in a fast-paced environment
