Job Title: Automation Engineer


Location: Bern

Hours: 40

Duration: until Dec 2025,  Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Essential: Automation /GMP

The role 


Key contact person for automation questions, automation projects and/or adaptation work on new or existing systems, as well as maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs in the automation area


Key Responsibilities:
  • Development and implementation of automation projects

  • Independently processing demanding overall projects in the areas of automation

  • Meeting and controlling deadlines

  • Defining automation strategy, concepts and implementing proposals

  • Collaboration in investment projects in the area of automation /alarm concept

  • Responsible for the allocated assignments on technical competence

  • Implementing software changes and documentation

  • Maintaining technical documentation and compiling VIH checklists of automated systems

  • Drive and guarantee timelines on tasks assigned to automation projects

  • Financial:

  • Compliance with the budget defined in the projects



Your profile:


Education/training in the field of electrical engineering / measurement and control technology or automation or comparable


Quality:


  • Working knowledge of GMP, technical understanding of PLC and computer systems

  • Experienced in computerized system validation (CSV) in a GMP environment 


Technical:


  • Experience with common Fieldbus networks, HMIs and SCADA systems

  • Proven track record in the field of BMS (Building Management System)/EMS (Environmental Monitoring System), such as Honeywell and Siemens (EBI / Desigo CC). 

  • Strong technical skills with common PLC brands (e.g.: Siemens, Wago and others).

  • Experience with AVEVA PI (Former OSI-PI).

  • Knowledge of relational database systems.

  • Understanding the theoretical concepts and practical implementation elements of industrial networks and its interface with large corporate networks is required.


Management Skills:


  • Initiative spirit, ability to work under pressure, ability to take decisions, judgement, independence, conscientious way of working

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, assess priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to think and comprehend, planning and organizational skills, problem-solving ability, ability to implement ideas

  • Communication skills (oral), ability to deal with conflict, ability to work in a team, assertiveness

  • Ability to assess needs and deliver solutions to internal customers under the own respective competency

  • Solid track record of leading and proactively managing end-to-end execution of projects that have delivered quantifiable impact

  • Experienced in working with several internal departments (IT, operations, quality, engineering and maintenance) to carry out projects, contribute to develop local standards and define project requirements and priorities

  • Skills in time and self-management



Operational:


Good command of written and spoken English and German
