Location: Beerse

Working mode: 3 days per week on-site and 2 WFH (80%-100% on-site presence)

Duration: Until the end of September 2025 (opportunity for a contract extension)

Hours: 40 hours per week

The Business Excellence Support is responsible for leading complex supply chain  improvements, as well as developing and embedding Lean competencies in JSC Beerse/Olen.  He/she will partner with other operational excellence leaders and the global organization to  ensure best practice sharing and a successful deployment of the BEx methodologies.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Own the Fast Track Qualifying process for JSC Beerse/ Olen to guarantee reliable  supply and prevent stock-outs by following up on exceptions that impact the standard  flow for the release of our final products. 

  • Look for continuous optimizations of the local value chain by capturing, connecting and  analysing data from multiple systems (SAP-RPE, OMP, eLIMS, Smart QC, Smart QA,  OSI-Pi, …) and application of statistical methods (eg Minitab).  

  • Lead improvement projects using J&J Production System (JJPS) and Lean  methodologies such as Value Stream mapping. 

  • Own the Root Cause Problem Solving process and build capabilities on all levels in the  organisation to investigate and solve issues in a systematic way. Facilitate the very  complex investigations with advanced techniques (RATIO, Kepner Tregoe, …) and apply  statistical analysis on various data. 

  • Build the JJPS culture and capabilities by coaching new people leaders and project  leaders in the organization.

  • Core team member of the JJPS deployment team. 

  • Challenge the status quo and identify business improvement opportunities through  application of critical thinking and problem-solving tools 

  • Identify & drive adoption of proven practices to continuously improve results & processes

  • Lead/ mentor/ coach teams in designing/ optimizing key processes using improvement  methodologies 

  • Lead and sustain change, eg through Business Process Management

  • Lead complex improvement initiatives where enhanced knowledge of Lean is required

  • Train and Coach project managers of improvement initiatives and problem solving

  • Train/Coach and/or facilitate lean tools and techniques at the shop floor like Kaizen, 5S,  Kanban, problem solving tools, ... 

  • Build subject matter expertise in the field of Data Science and application of statistical  methods


how to succeed

  • Strong experience in a (pharmaceutical) supply chain with good knowledge of End-to End business processes.  

  • Certified in Six Sigma and/ or Lean Manufacturing  

  • Proven Project Management skills 

  • Familiar with JJPS methodology 

  • Result-oriented with an aptitude to analyse complex problems under pressure, reach  valid conclusions and find right solutions to make things happen.  

  • Collaborate effectively with all functions of the organization and drive alignment in a local  and global context 

  • Passion to share knowledge and facilitate the learning of others

  • Master’s degree in science or Engineering preferable

  • Fluent in English (the ideal candidate would also be fluent in Dutch)
