Project Outline

To understand the capacity of our various biologics plants, digital representations/process models of the productions carried out in those plants are to be built. The productions may include preculture, fermentation, direct product capture and purification steps. The models should emulate the productions to include information such as materials and equipment used in each step as well as operation details within each step. Steps such as buffer prep and cleaning procedures should also be included. The models are to be built in the SuperPro® Designer software which has the ability to simulate material consumption and production/equipment occupancies. The main goal of this project is to develop a model of 2-3 existing productions (2-3 models in total) which have already been identified so that scientists and engineers alike can make evidence-backed predictions on the plant capacity of the specific productions using them.

Deliverables:

  • 2-3 functioning capacity models of predefined productions in SuperPro that must be able to:
    • Run error free
    • Generate material consumption and production Gantt chart reports
    • Emulate the real production process in terms of throughput and duration
    • Run what-if simulations
  • Report of the model development workflow
  • Record of key parameter values and their sources

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for developing the aforementioned capacity models in SuperPro® designer. To achieve this, you may need to:

  • Searching multiple data source to fully understand the manufacturing process
  • Watch SuperPro Tutorials to learn the mechanics of the SuperPro software. Communicate with the software company when needed
  • Communicate with local and global partners to gather support and report results
  • Give frequent (weekly to biweekly) oral/presentation updates

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent fields.
  • Strong knowledge of systems modelling, capacity modelling and process modelling principles
  • Experience with systems engineering software such as SuperPro, ASPEN and gPROMS
  • Familiarity with monoclonal antibody manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication skill to ask for support and give updates
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) for the 4 months duration
  • The position is remote but can be in person if candidate does not require relocation

In return for this role, you will receive a competitive hourly rate. A minimum 4 month contract & an opportunity to work with a Global Leader with Johnson & Johnson.
