Janssen Sciences Ireland UC, (previously Janssen Biologics), is part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, the world’s most comprehensive and broadly-based manufacturer of healthcare products and related services.  Our site in Ringaskiddy was established in 2005 on a 100-acre site with an investment of €500 million. We manufacture a range of biopharmaceutical products indicated for the treatment of conditions that include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and cancer.  

We are expanding our site to allow us to meet the critical needs of patients around the world.  The expansion plans involve an investment of more than €300 million that will increase the existing manufacturing space by an additional 19,100m2, provide employment for up to 450 people during construction and an extra 200 people once completed.


 

The Role:

We are looking for multiple Data Scientists to join our SCAN team. You will be working across all areas of business, data science/engineering/analytics/visualisation/modelling.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis on large data sets: analyse, clean, and summarise the data.
  • Present data analysis results and write technical summaries to drive product quality and safety related discussions. 
  • Automate processes, develop dashboards and solutions to address business needs.
  • Provide modelling support for the business using tools such as SIMCA.
  • Project management: manage multiple project timelines and deliver on customer needs.
  • Prioritise work based on urgency and value, to deliver SCAN objectives. 
  • Sustain and improve complex workflows and Tableau visualisations for multiple customers. 
  • Communicate with customers to understand needs, develop data analytics proposals, and ensure needs are met according to project timelines.
  • Partner with the Business Units to expand the use of data analytics and predictive insights.
  • Expand and deepen data analytics and visualisation skills on site using tools such as Tableau.
  • Explore new data analytics solutions and innovative approaches to data opportunities through partnerships with stakeholders and connections with Enterprise data groups.
  • Drive efficiencies across the site through suitable adoption of new technologies. 

 

Competencies: 

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of complex End-to-End data architecture in a very large organisation.
  • Good appreciation of Industry 4.0/IIoT and how to effectively drive to transform within this framework.
  • Solid understanding of S95 level 4 systems and their capabilities such as ERP, Quality Systems, Data Warehouses etc.
  • Innovative with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work individually or collaborate with cross-functional teams, as required.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, strong customer focus.


 

Requirements:

  • Third level degree in Engineering, Science, or an IT discipline.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. (not essential, we will consider all sectors)
  • Extensive knowledge of end-to-end data flows and data architecture. 
  • Strong SQL skills and an extensive knowledge of database structures.
  • Proven ability to analyse, clean, and summarise large data sets. 
  • Knowledge of ongoing data engineering utilising Databricks to access Azure data.
  • Extensive experience extracting and manipulating Pi data for trending purposes and to address business challenges. 
  • Project Management skills (SCRUM, Agile, FPX, Waterfall) required, familiarity with JIRA desirable.
  • Track record of leading projects to deployment stages.
  • Ability to work individually or collaborate with cross-functional teams, as required.
  • Familiarity with SIMCA, SIMIO, Tableau, Python, R studio, NLP desirable.
  • Previous app development experience desirable.
