Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EH&S), as part of the J&J Supply Chain, is currently recruiting for a temporary EHS Compliance and Environment specialist for our Janssen Biologics site in Leiden.

At Janssen Biologics we are looking for a temporary colleague to strengthen our Environment, Safety & Health Team in the focus area of EHS Environment and Compliance. This for a period of approximately 12 months. We are looking for an EHS Compliance and Environment specialist with a quality mind who likes to interact with people, sees problems as opportunities and gets energized by improving EHS processes. This to ensure (environmental) compliance in a way that the related EHS risks and opportunities within the organization maintain controlled. EHS&S Department at Janssen Biologics Leiden

The EHS Department at Janssen Biologics leads the implementation of the J&J Worldwide EHS Standards and of the ISO14001 and ISO45001 Management System standards. We work in close collaboration with the J&J EHS organization in the Netherlands and J&J organizations in related countries.

Management of EHS is a core responsibility of the entire Janssen Biologics organization where we, as EHS department, support by having a strong relationship with the site- /departmental EHS Representatives, Management System Standards Owners/Subject Matter Experts, and Site Management.

roles and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the EHS governance around EHS permitting

  • Provide project support with regards to EHS permitting

  • Liaise and negotiate with external authorities and governmental bodies.

  • Responsible for the internal governmental inspection process and coordinating these governmental inspections.

  • Maintain and continuously improve the EHS regulatory compliance process

  • Subject Matter Expert of EHS legislation

  • EHS Document control specialist maintaining and continuously improving the EHS Document Control process

  • Lead and/or support the implementation of corporate EHS Standards within your area of expertise

  • Coach/lead teams of EHS Representatives and EHS Standard Owners/SMEs within your area of expertise

  • Support EHS risk assessments within your area of expertise

  • Give EHS training on EHS related topics within your area of expertise

You are driven to search for practical EHS solutions which are compliant with local and national legislation and J&J Standards. This with close interaction with other experts within the company. You are only satisfied when improvements are long-term and sustainable. You have a “can-do” mentality and see improving the EHS performance as a collective responsibility.

  • Education, experience, and knowledge necessary for this function

  • Bachelor or comparable level

  • Dutch and English in speaking and writing

  • Experience with contacts with governmental parties/agencies

  • Experience with EHS permitting and regulatory compliance processes

  • Experience with the International Management System Standards ISO14001 and ISO45001

  • An additional course Safety Manager level 3 (“HVK”) or comparable can lead to a preference
