Location: Limerick

Working mode: On-site

Duration: 12 months (opportunity for a contract extension)

Imagine your next project as EHS Specialist. The EHS Specialist supports the design, implementation, maintenance, and review of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate and industry requirements. Acts as an SME and advisor to all teams on site in relation to EHS matters with particular emphasis on Industrial Hygiene and corporate EHS Software Management systems and data management.

roles and responsibilities

  • Oversee the Industrial Hygiene program and act as site SME.

  • Develop the annual Occupational Hygiene monitoring plan.

  • Conduct Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments.

  • Work with Consultants to complete Occupational hygiene monitoring and co-ordinate other related activities as required.

  • Oversee the approval of New Chemical Introductions and management of the SDS’s corporate data base to ensure accuracy with respect to chemicals used on site.

  • Conduct Noise Monitoring and maintain the noise monitoring program.

  • Liaise with Global Health in the review and specification of SEG’s.

  • Maintain the REACH Register for the site and work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the timely registration of new Chemicals as required.

  • Provide weekly Metrics reports for the site and ensure on time submission of monthly reports to Corporate EHS.

  • Support the preparation of presentations for the EHS Management Reviews.

  • Provide and develop Chemical Awareness, Manual Handling and EHS Induction Training and other Safety Training as required.

  • Provide training on the J&J EHS Software System to users and act as site SME.

  • Perform periodic walkdowns / audits / program reviews to ensure compliance with safety and environmental permits, plans, policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide support to functions for Incident & accident investigations and close out of CAPA’s.

  • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and review of EHS Procedures and other EHS documents appropriate to the scope of site activities and in compliance with J&J requirements.

  • Provide technical support for the site risk assessment / JSA program and assist in implementing appropriate control measures for identified risks.


how to succeed

essential:

  • A relevant third level qualification in Science, Engineering or EHS, with at least 5 years’ experience in the environment, health, and safety area, ideally in the MedTech or Pharma industry.

  • Good overall knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in Environment, Health, and Safety

  • Good written and communication skills.

  • Good computer skills with the ability to create dashboards, work in Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to track and trend KPI’s, assembling information into clearly written reports, documented findings or recommendations and communicate this progress in easily understandable manner to all stakeholders.

  • Occupational Hygiene experience including Qualification and Practical Experience in Noise Monitoring.


desirable:

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 would be a distinct advantage.

  • Manual Handling Trainer
