EHS Specialist
Location: Galway

Supports the design, implementation, maintenance, and review of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate and industry requirements.
Responsible for supporting the implementation on ISO14001:2015 with an external vendor by actively participating in reviewing and approving new documents require for the attainment of ISO.
Acts as an SME and advisor to all teams on site in relation to EHS matters with particular emphasis on Industrial Hygiene and corporate EHS Software Management systems and data management.
Roles and Responsibilities
Implement, maintain and sustain the ISO14001:2015 Standard for the site by working with an external vendor to implement this key requirement for the site.
Oversee the Industrial Hygiene program and act as site SME.
Conduct Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments based on activities performed on the site.
Liaise with Global Health in the review and specification of SEG’s.
Work with Consultants to complete Occupational hygiene monitoring and co-ordinate other related activities as required.
Oversee the approval of New Chemical Introductions and management of the SDS’s corporate database to ensure accuracy with respect to chemicals used on site.
Maintains the Chemical Register for the site and works with the relevant stakeholders to introduce new chemicals to the site.
Emergency Response Planning for the site inclusive of training teams based on risk profile for the site.
Manages the Contractors Management and the Permit to Work Process for the site.
Provide monthly Metrics reports for the site and ensure on time submission of monthly reports to Corporate EHS in CURVE.
Chairs and leads bi-monthly meetings with the sites EHS Refresh Team ensuring compliance to the relevant standards is met as well as key deliverables.
Creates and delivers presentations for the EHS Management Reviews.
Provide and develop Chemical Awareness, Manual Handling and EHS Induction Training, Contractor Management, Permit to Work and other Safety Training as required.
Provide training on the J&J EHS Software System to users and act as site SME.
Perform quarterly walkdowns / audits / program reviews to ensure compliance with the J&J Standard and regulatory requirements.
Provide support for Good Saves, Incident & accident investigations and close out of CAPA’s in CURVE
Assist in the preparation, implementation, and review of EHS Procedures and other EHS documents appropriate to the scope of site activities and in compliance with J&J requirements and ISO14001:2015 implementation.
Provide technical support for the site risk assessment / JSA program and assist in implementing appropriate control measures for identified risks.
Manual Handing instructor.

She/he will have a strong EHS general/technical knowledge and experience in the MedTech industry or equivalent, be a strong effective communicator with all stakeholders. She/he will be a strong collaborator with a proven track and a strong networker able to leverage EHS expertise on and off site.
How to Succeed
A relevant third level qualification in Science, Engineering or EHS, with at least 5 years’ experience in the environment, health, and safety area, ideally in the MedTech or Pharma industry.
Good overall knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in Environment, Health, and Safety
Good written and communication skills.
Good computer skills with the ability to create dashboards, work in Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to track and trend KPI’s, assembling information into clearly written reports, documented findings or recommendations and communicate this progress in an easily understandable manner to all stakeholders.
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 would be a distinct advantage.
