roles and responsibilities

The Graphic Designer will work as part of the digital function within Janssen, reporting into the Content Excellence Hub Lead in the Digital Excellence  Team. The focus of the role will be to partner with the internal business functions, to develop and build creative assets to tell the story of the therapy areas and our brands that are parts of Janssen as a company. 


The graphic designer will be tasked in bringing new creative concepts to the fore within our organisation and deliver new innovative ways of communicating with our customers in a ABPI complaint way. This role will be based in the Janssen head office in High Wycombe, UK with 3 days a week required in the office.


This will involve: 

  • Designing materials for all customer touch points including product packaging, brochures, internal and external presentations, e-events, traditional and online adverts as well as designing websites, landing pages & email campaigns;

  • Designing logos/icons/custom graphics for brands and internal and external communication

  • Managing congresses stand design work and prepare 3D designs & visualizations 

  • Preparing materials for print following best design practice and ensuring best visual results and liaising with printing houses on the productions and print logistics

  • Following design trends, creative tools and technologies to be able to offer current, relevant design options/advice, particularly in development of digital and interactive design;

  • Utilizing strong working knowledge of UX/ UI, innovative thinking and web design principles to guide digital assets delivery and solutions;

  • Assisting in the in-house studio video and podcast production and editing 

  • Assisting brands in the direction of external design agencies, acting as the brand point-person for consistency in brand identity and best in class design execution.

  • Developing concepts and executing on multiple projects in a timely manner

  • Able to deliver high quality original work, in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols, within tight deadlines



how to succeed

The successful candidate will act as a role model for the J&J Credo values. You will also bring:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience at an in-house creative department, web design, creative or ad agency or a in-house designer in a start- up

  • Good knowledge of Adobe CC and proficient in Adobe InDesign, Adobe illustrator & Adobe Photoshop. 

  • Experienced using Figma or similar prototyping software or tool

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Substance 3D or similar software for 3D design is desirable 

  • Knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premium Pro or Final Cut Pro is hugely advantageous

  • Strong experience in preparing creative assets to print 

  • Working knowledge of CSS & HTML is a bonus

  • Interest in latest digital and design tools and technology and strong understanding of digital channels

  • Experienced managing multiple projects 

  • Good understanding of brand hierarchy

  • Good understanding of creative workflows

  • Professional individual with excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritise in pressured situations and communicate effectively during those periods

  • Internally focused relationship building skills; experienced in developing effective relationships across a diverse group of partners at the highest levels, in the internal environment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple commercial projects successfully

  • Ability to analyse, adapt, and drive appropriate change for the dynamic interplay between vision, strategy, tactics and execution

  • Proficient in English (oral and written)

  • Balance confidentiality

This role offers a very competitive hourly rate. This contract will run for a 12 month and has a strong chance of extension. Hybrid position (3 days on site, may be flexible on this)

This role is OUTSIDE IR35 (PAYE, LTD & Umbrella options are available.)
