Role purpose:

Imagine your next project working as a HEOR Writer for Johnson & Johnson. Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine UK is currently recruiting a Health Economics, Market Access and Reimbursement (HEMAR) Writer located in High Wycombe in the UK to support the delivery of accelerated, broad market and patient access and funding for our key brands. The successful candidate will play a key role as part of the HEMAR team working with a group of market access and health economics specialists as well as extended interactions with Medical Affairs and external vendors.

The role objectives are to deliver high quality HTA dossiers and real world evidence documentation to ensure high quality and successful UK HTA submissions, and to provide internal expertise to ensure high quality evidence generation project delivery. The role reports into the Head of HEMAR with a dotted line to the Head of Health Outcomes, they will define the strategic needs for the role in regard to key HTA and RWE deliverables. 

The goal of the HEMAR department is to optimise the value of both the Company and its products, through the development of a positive external image perceived by payers. This is done by effectively communicating the innovative value the Company and its medicines provide to patients, to the National Health Service, and to the community as a whole.


roles and responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the planning, writing and editing of Health Technology Assessment submission documents, in collaboration with HEMAR brand team to ensure delivery of high quality submissions to national and local health technology assessment organisations, such as NICE and, SMC to achieve positive recommendations.

  • Work as part of a collaborative internal HTA team with relevant HEMAR, commercial and medical affairs colleagues to understand the overall product and submission strategy around relevant products 

  • Contribute to the planning, writing and editing of RWE study documentation and reporting e.g. study synopses, protocols, reports and manuscripts for internal and external stakeholders to help implement studies which meet evidence gaps to build positive and compelling commercial opportunities, including taking projects through internal approval processes

  • Take a leading role in RWE project team to support study and analysis plan design as well as data source selection and contribute to management of internal compliance processes 

  • Demonstrate innovation in use of in-house artificial intelligence to efficiently prepare HTA and RWE documentation 

  • Prepare materials for external consultations such as ad boards or HTA policy engagement

  • Writing and editing patient access documents to ensure that they are accurate, clearly written, and conform to the editorial in-house style

  • Analyse and summarise clinical studies, data and information, in order to apply this to the strategic positioning of J&J IM products, within the context of the market and the healthcare environment



how to succeed

  • Demonstrable experience in writing UK HTA submission documents, real world evidence protocols and epidemiology publications necessary

  • Specific experience in the following is desirable:

    • Scientific abstract and manuscript writing 

    • NICE HTA Document A and Document B, as well as responses to the EAG report and NICE technical engagement

    • SMC NPAF and response to clarification questions

    • Real world evidence study design 

    • Familiarity with UK data sources

    • RWE methods protocol and statistical analysis plan design and writing

    • Patient Access policy communications

    • Systemic literature reviews

  • A graduate degree in a relevant life sciences field or communications field would be considered beneficial (for example biology, economics, statistics)
