J&J Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Logistics Quality Engineer, located in Leiden. We are seeking a proactive, results‑oriented Quality Engineer on a 6‑month contract to join the CoE Logistics team. The successful candidate will lead NC (non‑conformance) investigations end‑to‑end, define CAPAs, and demonstrate strong stakeholder management and leadership. This role requires someone who takes clear ownership of records, makes sure accountability for timelines, and drives timely, sustainable resolutions.
roles and responsibilities
You will lead NC investigations from detection through containment, root‑cause analysis, CAPA definition, implementation, verification of effectiveness, and formal closure.
This will involve:
Lead NC investigations from detection through containment, root‑cause analysis, CAPA definition, implementation, verification of effectiveness, and formal closure.
Define, prioritize, assign, and supervise CAPAs to ensure timely completion and validated effectiveness.
Maintain complete, accurate, and audit‑ready records in the Quality system (Comet) and ensure document control practices are followed.
Act as the primary quality point of contact for cross‑functional collaborators (Operations, QA, Global Planning, Material Sciences, Supplier Quality) to coordinate investigations and corrective actions.
Drive accountability and follow‑through: set clear timelines, supervise progress, call out risks as needed, and timely delivery of actions.
Produce clear investigation reports, risk assessments, and evidence packages for management reviews and audits/inspections.
Monitor NC and CAPA metrics, identify trends, and recommend systemic improvements to reduce recurrence.
Support internal and external audits and provide informative responses and evidence.
how to succeed
You are a quality professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field, possessing a sharp eye for detail and a "get-it-done" mentality for compliance.
You will also bring:
Proven experience leading NC investigations and defining CAPAs.
Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to influence and coordinate across multiple functions.
Shown leadership traits: takes ownership, holds teams accountable, and gets results to meet deadlines.
Experience maintaining audit‑ready records and working within a QMS/CAPA system.
Solid problem‑solving skills and familiarity with root‑cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
Proficient reading, writing and speaking in English.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain quality.
Knowledge of GMP standards, or other relevant regulatory frameworks.
Experience with SAP, QMS/CAPA platforms, or electronic document management systems.
Good understanding of the Dutch language is helpful.
