This is a full-time contract position situated within the Utilities and Building team, a key component of the Engineering Validation Maintenance (EVM) department. The role sits in an established group consisting of 5 technicians and 5 engineers focused on HVAC utility systems including cooling, heating, and ventilation, as well as clean utilities and electrical maintenance. This position involves direct project work and hands-on delivery across laboratories and on-site facilities, granting significant operational freedom to determine working processes in an environment where maintenance management is structured around ISO6001 standards.

roles and responsibilities

• Responsible for the Asset strategy in full, including the associated processes for those assets.

• Is responsible for the development and management of the Asset strategy in full including drawing up improvement proposals and roadmaps for their implementation.

• Supports the senior in setting up and managing the Asset strategy in full including drawing up improvement proposals and roadmaps for their implementation.

• Initiates and monitors improvement proposals for among others new techniques and methodologies.

• Supports the EVM senior Asset Management engineer in establishing and maintaining the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and relevant Asset Management Plans (AMPs).

• Is responsible for drawing up the Long-Term Investment Plan (LTIP) that indicates for the coming years when certain Assets need to be replaced or modified, taking into account necessary future demands.

• Initiates the replacement or modification of certain Assets by setting up project proposals.

• Supports the EVM senior Asset Management engineer in identifying customer requirements.

• Determines how the Assets can best be monitored, what kind of alarms are needed for this, what the alarm limits are, and how these alarms can best be presented.

• Contributes from the Asset Management role to the introduction of new assets and the development of major asset modifications.

• Participates as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and may lead development projects installing new systems or carrying out modifications on the existing systems to ensure correct implementation of the long-term strategy with regard to Asset Management and standardization of their assets.

• Does high level estimates and feasibility studies for business cases on short notice that are important to the business.

• Ensures that new or modified Assets are manageable by the Asset Management organization by ensuring that projects properly go through the handover process.

• Contributes to the Asset maintenance Management.

• Supports, if necessary, the maintenance technician with complex maintenance problems.

• Is in the lead for preparation, execution, and finalization of the maintenance shutdown period for the Utilities & Building systems concerned.

• Carries out compliance investigations in case of an issue on an indirect or direct impact asset.

• Takes care of improving the compliance system.

• Contributes to root cause analysis for critical assets and for determining new Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).

• Executes CAPAs.

• Is IOSS chapter owner.

• Is SME in the area of Asset Maintenance Management, providing technical expertise.

• Reviews suppliers' annual maintenance plans regarding their technical implications.

• Participates in and leads Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) sessions and sets up and manages the RCMs and Preventive Maintenance Plans (PMPs).

• Advises the maintenance technician on spare part management and determines the target stock for new systems.

• Advises the senior maintenance technician regarding the configuration data to be maintained for the various Assets.

• Responsible for concluding and managing all supplier contracts involved.

• Creates and optimizes the necessary technical documentation and operational procedures.

• Develops, implements, and monitors appropriate performance indicators to determine the current health of the Assets.

• Handles and supervises necessary internal and external audits.

• Accountable for and provides training and guidance to less experienced staff and other stakeholders.

• Participates with direct colleagues in the EVM 24/7 service in order to ensure the operational service and safety of critical systems and equipment.

• Delivers hands-on maintenance, engineering and design tasks, and documentation, expanding the team footprint and supporting immediate project work.

how to succeed

• Holds 2 to 4 years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer.

• Displays a hands-on approach complemented by strong engineering and design knowledge.

• Possesses a background in regulated or technical sectors, with flexible industry experience such as oil and gas, highly regulated environments, food and beverage, aerosol, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

• A Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Installation Technics, or Process Engineering is preferred, though a formal degree is not strictly required if supported by extensive professional experience.

• Possesses knowledge of Pharmaceutical Utility Systems such as High Purity Water (HPW), Pure steam, HVAC, and gas systems.

• Demonstrates foundational knowledge in project management.

• Possesses experience or familiarity working in laboratory and pharmaceutical (GMP) production environments.

• Demonstrates understanding of regulatory requirements and industry guidelines specific to maintenance, engineering, and the pharmaceutical industry, such as GMP, VCA, RCM, CE, and NEN3140.

• Demonstrates strong English communication skills to ensure accuracy and clear collaboration across team functions.
