JOB TITLE - MARKETING PROJECT MANAGER

The Project:

The Shopper Marketing team is tasked with driving J&J’s business through effective engagement and conversion of shoppers at the point of purchase (POP), in our key retailers which are High Street retailers like Boots and Superdrug, Grocery Retailers like Tesco and Sainsburys and Pharmacy retailers like Lloyds and independent pharmacy.  This is through the flawless amplification and execution of Brand Marketing plans as well as development of retailer / channel specific co-marketing initiatives.

This role would suit a project manager or event manager with experience of developing artwork to a set of brand guidelines, who is able to be organised, and is comfortable working with multiple internal and external stakeholders. While retail experience is desirable, it is not essential, as full training will be given. 

 

The Shopper Marketing Project Manager is part of a wider Shopper Marketing team of 10 team members. Their overall responsibility is to:

  • Deliver Shopper executions which reflect the shopper’s needs and are tailored across the path to purchase.
  • Jointly build UK customer and channel specific Shopper Marketing plans to deliver category and brand solutions against the UK National Activity Plan.
  • Develop and translate customer and shopper insights into differentiated co-marketing opportunities with specific UK customers / channels.

 

The Role:

  • Hybrid (High Wycombe)
  • £20-25 p/h PAYE
  • 6 Months Initially

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Shopper Marketing Manager to deliver in-store and shopper media in large defined channel / customers. This will involve briefing artwork to a studio,   ensuring consistency of message and brand imagery, and adherence to regulatory guidelines, and working with retailers and retailer media agencies to deploy the artwork. 
  • Support of the Shopper Marketing Manager on creation and deployment of brand initiative style guides for UK. This involves artwork development to a theme, ensuring messaging and artwork are impactful, appropriate, and in line with regulatory guidelines.
  • Execution of retailer specific and differentiated amplification, with support from Shopper Marketing Manager.  This might be working with our agencies and legal teams on a competition, or a sampling execution, or working with our brand teams on a social media execution for and with retailers featuring our brands.
  • Leading initiative execution for specified brands and projects with support from Shopper Marketing Manager. This might be working with our in-house professionals and regulatory teams to create and launch blog content for our retailers, or it might be to deploy a new suite of point-of-sale materials, working with our sales team to ensure they are deployed in retail, and adhere to brand and regulatory guidelines.
  • Brands and projects assigned for specific role. 
  • NPI launches, differentiated retailer initiatives, event plans and monthly activity linked with retailer promotional plans.
  • Internally and externally facing role.   
  • Key stakeholders internally: Shopper Project Manager, Shopper Marketing Managers, Customer Development, Marketing, Commercial Strategy, Category Development
  • Key stakeholders externally: Retailers, Retailer agencies, Artwork agencies, Strategic shopper agency. 
  • Execution in current year and planning for next.
  • Skin health category and brands across designated channel / customers. 

 

Execution with Excellence: 

  • Become a Shopper Activation expert for assigned brands, amplifying priority initiatives to maximise J&Js share. 
  • Take activity plan / projects and work with designated Channel / Customer Teams to ensure delivery and excellence of in-store and shopper media activation.  
  • Understand the path to purchase for assigned brands and categories to produce suitable instore materials and shopper media plans and make recommendations that unlock the purchase barriers.
  • With Shopper Marketing Manager, develop clear style guides to ensure consistency in execution across the retail trade ensuring brand and regulatory approvals are met.
  • Engage and work in collaboration with J&J Legal, Reg’s and Medical teams to ensure product claims are developed within set parameters, whilst influencing the outcome.
  • Develop strong relationships with the customer(s) at a marketing and activation level as to drive commitment and ensure exceptional support for J&J innovation and initiatives and, where identified, co-marketing opportunities
  • Control and optimise shopper marketing budget allocated.
     

External Agency Engagement:

  • Provide quality and timely briefs for external agencies and engage fully and swiftly to ensure a superior output and strong working relationships and on budget executions.

 

Team Leadership:

  • Drive high quality relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring they understand what is important to the shopper at the POP and what J&J need to deliver effectively along the path to purchase. 

 

Budget Management:

  • Responsibility for deploying the Shopper Activation budget for assigned brands, to drive our brand objectives and unlock the purchase barriers, across the path to purchase.
  • Budget to be kept updated 

 

Professional Experience Required:

Experience Required: 

  • Experience of working with agencies/ studios to develop artwork is required
  • Some experience of in-store communications and shopper media is desirable.
  • Project management / event management experience would be a benefit
  • Stakeholder management including external agencies.

In Return:

In return for this role you will receive a very competitive hourly rate. A minimum 6 month contract & an opportunity to work with a Global Leader within the Pharmaceutical sector, Johnson & Johnson.
