Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modeller

Location: Leiden

Working mode: Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site and 2 WFH

Duration: 12 months

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modeller to join our team.  The candidate will be responsible for developing, executing, and analysing CFD simulations to support  investigations, process optimization, and troubleshooting across various projects. This role requires strong  technical expertise in fluid dynamics, multiphase flow, heat transfer, mass transfer and numerical  modelling, combined with the ability to interpret results and provide actionable insights for engineering,  operating and scientific teams.

• Model Development & Simulation 

• Develop and Validate Models: Create robust CFD models for fluid flow, heat and mass transfer,  and multiphase systems. 

• Run Simulations & Interpret Results: Apply advanced turbulence models, boundary conditions,  and meshing strategies to ensure accuracy. 

• Turn Data into Decisions: Analyse outputs, identify trends, and provide clear recommendations to  engineering and scientific teams. 

• Drive Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of the curve with the latest CFD tools and methods  and help shape internal modelling standards.

how to succeed

The candidate must hold master’s or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Biomedical  engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields. 

We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in fluid dynamics, transport phenomena, and  numerical methods, ready to apply these principles to real-world challenges. You should be comfortable  working with CFD tools like ANSYS Fluent and have experience using CAD software to bring designs to life. 

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB is essential for automation and data  analysis, and we value candidates who can leverage these skills to streamline workflows. Above all, we’re seeking an individual with excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, someone who thrives on  tackling complex technical problems and driving innovation. 

It is important that the candidate be reliable, eager to learn, and possess good communication and time management skills.
