Chemistry Scientist 


Location: Limerick

Duration: 12 months

Hours: 39 per week - based on site full time

Pay rate range: Depending on experience


The Scientist Chemistry role is responsible for equipment verification/validation, testing of raw materials, in-process samples and finished product samples, along with documentation of results and the reporting of any non-conformances as per site procedure. Additionally, the Chemistry Scientist is involved in laboratory activities to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

In addition to the above duties, The Scientist 2 Chemistry role encompasses responsibility in supporting the Team Leader in the Management of lab activity to ensure work is being completed to support production output.


roles and responsibilities

  • Inspection and release of incoming raw materials and packaging components, as per relevant raw material specifications.

  • Finished goods testing as per product specifications.

  • Validation support for ongoing changes in production. 

  • Water monitoring testing.

  • Testing and release of In-process packing solution. 

  • Dealing with Out of Specification (OOS) results, when they arise.

  • Protocol and Report Writing.

  • Instrumentation used within the lab:

  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)

  • Sotax Dissolution Bath

  • UV/VIS spectrophotometer

  • Karl Fisher

  • FTIR -ATR

  • Refractometer

  • Identification of quality issues and involvement in sourcing solutions.

  • Offering new initiatives to accomplish goals and driving these changes to completion.

  • All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.


how to succeed

  • Minimum of Certificate level qualification in Chemistry or other relevant science discipline.

  • At least 1 year industrial experience in the Pharmaceutical/Medical Devices Industry.

  • Good knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements. 

  • Good organization skills and familiarity with computer packages.

  • Ability to work on own initiative.

  • Flexible work ethic.

  • Attention to detail.
