EVM Department:
The Engineering-Validation-Maintenance (EVM) department is a motivated and dynamic team responsible for the technical support of all utilities, production and laboratory areas and all involved equipment at the Janssen Vaccines & Prevention site in Leiden.
We work in a challenging environment where we make great progress in developing our advanced therapies. Engineering has a large project portfolio to sustain/improve the existing environment. The Compliance group looks after the correct qualification and validation status of GMP critical equipment and processes. Furthermore, the compliance group is responsible for the overall quality and safety programs within EVM. The key-focus point of the maintenance groups (U&B, Automation and Equipment group) is asset maintenance management of all assets within JVP.
Aim of this role:
As a Sr Automation Technician you are primarily responsible for the operational availability of our Automation System (e.g.: Building Management System (Desigo CC) and Monitoring systems (EMS) and related activities to maintain those systems. Furthermore, the guidance of external contractors during maintenance and project execution. These activities are mostly performed by external parties, you will be responsible to oversee safe work habits in the designated areas during the execution. The position reports directly to the Sr Manager EVM with a dotted line to the Functional Lead Automation.
The technical focus area will primarily be Automation/IT but also electrical for the automation control I/O cabinets and quality/compliance aspects for some of the systems. The automation systems are used by other EVM teams and our business partners and require close collaboration with these colleagues.
For this job you will be using our SAP based CMMS system SAP to plan, record and close work orders, maintenance logs and spare part usage. You might become a member of the EVM 24/7 support team to support first line trouble shooting outside normal office hours (one shift every ~6 weeks).
roles and responsibilities
Control the health of the automation systems and execute preventive/corrective maintenance where needed.
Setting up work permits, switching plans and instructions required for maintenance and inspection activities.
Guidance of third parties during executing of preventive/corrective maintenance activities
Act as 1st point of contact for Operational automation activities within the department.
First line troubleshooting in case of availability- or technical problems with automation systems including electrical control / I/O cabinets.
Detect operational deviations or irregularities in the automation systems.
On-call service (approx. 1 week every 6 weeks) may be needed
Follow protocols and procedures to ensure compliance (EHS and Q)
Support departmental improvement and modification projects
Guarantee the safety on the shop floor

Qualifications:
Education: MBO (level 4) / Electronics, Automation, IT or Similar
Specific Knowledge and experience:
Minimum of 2- 4 years of work experience in a technical support organization preferably in biotechnology/pharmaceutical/process industry environment.
Has the Electrical knowledge to perform initial diagnosis or resolve breakdowns
Minimum of 4 years work experience in automation / IT.
Experienced in a working with several internal or external departments (IT, operations, quality, engineering and maintenance) to carry out projects or tasks is a must
Consistent track record in the field of BMS (Building Management System)/EMS (Environmental Monitoring System), DLS (Data-logging System) such as Siemens (Desigo CC).
Experience in maintaining Process Automation platforms SCADA/Delta-V , Siemens S7, OsiSoft, OPC (PIMS) is a plus
Compliance awareness on computer system validation or GAMP is a plus
Additional training certificates such as, NEN3140, VCA full
