Imagine your next role as a Senior Scientist who joins the Advanced Material Characterization and Investigations (AMCI) group within AD.



About the department


AMCI is an international and diverse team of scientists performing advanced analytical characterization of pharmaceutical products and leading global analytical investigations for the commercial product portfolio and for the Discovery, Product Development & Supply (DPDS) organization of Janssen R&D. The AMCI group consists of different analytical centers of excellence such as primary packaging and combination products, colloidal sciences, rheology, particle identification, particle and powder characterization, metal testing, NMR, excipient & polymer characterization, and oligonucleotide & peptide analytics. We are currently looking for a highly motivated (Senior) scientist to join our team.


For this laboratory-based position, you will work together with internal and external specialists in drug product development and analytical development teams to find innovative solutions for in-depth characterization of new modalities/drug delivery platforms supporting combination products such as long-acting injectables, oligonucleotides, and liposomes from the perspective of understanding the physical properties of the products and the interactions between the devices and drug product. The position is based in Beerse, Belgium.




Responsibilities

  • Strengthen the devices/packaging and colloidal sciences team in the AMCI group in Beerse.

  •  Scientifically lead projects from the early to late development phase with an emphasis on novel formulations and

  • drug delivery platforms.

  • Design, lead, and perform analytical characterization work with the highest scientific standards in the area

  • of devices/packaging and colloidal sciences

  • Apply state–of–the art scientific knowledge to ensure high quality of the delivered results.

  • Work in a multidisciplinary team of scientists and show the ability to learn and explore new techniques.

  • Contribute and lead building new analytical expertise for new modalities (nanosuspensions) and drug delivery devices.




To be successful in this role you have:


  • Ph.D. preferably in Mechanical/Chemical engineering/Physics/Analytical chemistry or other related fields.

  • Expertise with combination products and different drug delivery devices is an advantage, e.g. knowledge of the interaction between a drug product and device, such as CCIT, mechanical testing, permeability testing, advanced imaging techniques (e.g., X-ray tomography, microscopy, MRI, SEM, AFM,…).

  • Good written and spoken communication and presentation skills in English

  • Sense of urgency.
