This position will play a key role in shaping Janssen’s Neuroscience profile across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) stakeholder landscape across internal and external stakeholders alike.

Representing the Communications & Public Affairs (CPA) function within key internal business groups and committees, the position will have the opportunity to shape the strategy and positioning of the business across EMEA in close collaboration with functions including Strategy, Regulatory, Medical and Commercial as well as local CPA and Patient Engagement & Advocacy (PEA) teams across the region.

Driving communications and patient engagement initiatives for Neuroscience the position will also be responsible for driving communications for a number of key, market leading Neuroscience brands with a focus on mood disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Drive Enterprise and business unit growth and build stakeholder trust/advocacy
  • Setting and implementing the Janssen EMEA Neuroscience CPA strategy, reporting into a Senior Manager Therapy Area (TA) Communications EMEA and working with one contractor.
  • Establishing the narrative, communications strategy and campaign planning to position Janssen as an undisputed leader in Neuroscience across EMEA.
  • Developing best in class patient engagement initiatives that demonstrate a clear understanding of patients’ unique journey alongside the Janssen commitment to transforming the lives of patients. Establishing cross-functional relationships and working practices, the position will support all necessary functions in developing tailored patient engagement initiatives.
  • As core member of the EMEA Neuroscience Integrated Brand Value Teams (IBVTs) representing the CPA function, propose, define and manage the optimal and most appropriate communications and public affairs strategy, tactical plans and budget needed to optimally support the success of the brand or TA and build on the reputation of the company. Oversees budgets with the highest degree of fiscal prudence and responsibility.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of activities through feedback/measurement tools, exploring best practices and giving guidance for strategies accordingly.
  • Provide counsel to IBVTs and other internal stakeholders on systematically embedding patient engagement and insights across cross-functional activities and plans.
  • Build a high-performing, continuously improving network of communicators that makes our Enterprise and the GCPA function stronger
  • Working across a complex matrix and broad market presence the position will drive alignment across the EMEA region through purposeful and creative communications initiatives.
  • Working with and supporting the Neuroscience CPA functional network in EMEA to drive strategic alignment and co-creation of core initiatives, in particular with key markets through the Collaborate model
  • In close collaboration with Marketing teams and brand portfolio leaders the position will develop communications material and initiatives in support of core Neuroscience brands.
  • Responsible for all communications, the position will drive an integrated approach to the function incorporating digital communications tools, strategies and practices across external and internal communications.
  • Model and inspire a continuous improvement mindset to ensure function stays on the leading edge of communications, change management, technology, social media and other key trends
  • Develop, support and manage a contractor and ensure compliance with relevant SOPs.
  • Maintain stakeholder trust through effective management of issues
  • Maintain deep understanding of current issues in the environment affecting Enterprise, businesses and brands; develop public affairs capabilities and strategies in partnership with relevant colleagues to shape the external environment and build trust in the company
  • Timely and pro-actively identify potential Enterprise, brand / franchise-related issues, manage appropriate internal escalation/information processes, provide strategic advice to the issue management team and develop issue management strategies, materials and processes and propose recovery strategies
  • Developing engaging content to establish the business as a leader within the field to include press relations content development and senior leadership media training responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

 

  • The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience levels:
  • 8+ years’ experience in a similar communications position
  • Masters level degree in a related discipline
  • Previous industry experience is essential, experience within the area of Neuroscience is a strong plus.
  • With a background in shaping communications strategies to support business positioning and reputation, the position will have a generalist communications background with experience across all stakeholder groups.
  • Product communications experience, ideally in support of a growing portfolio.
  • A strong background in developing and managing patient engagement initiatives with a clear awareness of the responsibilities and impact of their role with patient groups.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, the position will be well-versed in driving initiatives through to fruition in complex, matrix organized environments.
  • Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to assimilate complex business messages and briefs and produce clear and purposeful communications across all channels.
  • Business fluency in English.
