Construction Safety Coordinator

Imagine your next role as a Construction Safety Coordinator where you are responsible for safely implementing technical solutions to pre-defined business needs. In this role, you will coordinate all involved on-site contractors on safety and adherence to site procedures.
About the role
In this role, you will be part of a team of construction supervisors who run a wide variety of projects. Together with your teammates, you will ensure all required Permit to Work, and contractor trainings are in place and adhered to. You will have close contact with the team members, area owners, system owners, and internal customers and stakeholders. To meet the user expectations, open interaction is essential with the project team and partners. In this role, the construction safety Coordinator shows the ability to meet the pre-requisites of Safety, Health, Environment, GMP, and Reliability as it belongs to an installation or process to manufacture an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API).
The position is a versatile and exciting position with always multiple challenges in parallel! The role goes way beyond the technical focus: You’ll interact with all aspects of the company, whether Operations, Maintenance, EHS&S, QC, R&D, or Quality.
Main Responsibilities:
Deploy local safety & work permitting processes & standards (One CSS) for which all construction work in the Leiden site must follow.
Partner closely with project leads and contractors to establish safety plans at the project level.
Manage and direct project safety personnel on a day-to-day basis to ensure adequate hands-on support of work permitting, BHV support, contractor site access, project safety huddles, and inspections.
Allocate safety resources according to project safety plans and safety KPI performance.
Lead or support an investigation of construction safety incidents and ensure implementation and adequacy of corrective actions.
Engage construction service providers to establish project safety plans and KPI in accordance with J&J EHS standards.
Works with area owners, contractors, and customers to clear roadblocks whenever safety risks or job conditions are an active concern or difficult to resolve.
Carry the full authority to stop or delay construction activities if safety measures are not adequate.
Review construction project designs for safe constructability and serve on project core teams to advise in matters of construction.
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
Bachelor's degree in a technical subject area.
Proven experience in projects of different scales and complexity in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent.
A strong collaborator with a passion for job safety and a track record of delivering health and safety solutions in a team context.
A strong communicator & influencer who is self-assured and highly capable of negotiating successful outcomes with site stakeholders (managers, leads, project managers, engineers, contractors, front-line workers, and area owners).
Problem-solving skills to understand and find solutions for complex technical/regulatory issues.
Project management skills: lead teams, create dashboards, track metrics.
Enthusiastic teammate with a “Can do” attitude.
Practical technical understanding, analytical and conceptual thinking.
Experience in working within multidisciplinary teams.
Flexible, taking care of changing priorities, and stress resistant.
Self-awareness & Adaptability.
Good knowledge of Office 365
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing in English ( Dutch language is a plus)
