Contract Management Lead 


This role can be mainly remote however will require the occasional visit to our Janssen offices in High Wycombe.


Please note: This role is 37 hours a week not 40.

The Project:

This role will provide Contract Management expertise and leadership to Janssen’s commercial operations in the UK.  The role will report into the Head of Contract Management and will be based at the Janssen UK office in High Wycombe.


The Role:

The Contract Management Lead will provide contract management expertise and leadership to all Janssen commercial businesses in UK, in relation to supplier contracts under the governance of the Contract Management CoE.  

The role will support management of the contract lifecycle for a set of key contracts, develop contract management capability within the business and act as single point of accountability for the delivery of contract management CoE activity.  Some initial tools, processes and templates will be in place, but the role will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of further Contract Management capabilities.

For supplier contracts under the governance of the Contract Management CoE, the Contract Management Lead will resolve escalations regarding:

  • challenges arising from the negotiation of procurement-led supplier contracts for Janssen UK

  • challenges arising from contract related issues in respect of Janssen UK’s critical supplier contracts

  • domain expertise, help and support regarding Contract Management


The Contract Management Lead will support the Head of Contract Management in setting up and developing the Contract Management Community of Practice, through provision of contract management best practice.  This role will draw on domain expertise to develop Contract Management Centre of Expertise tools and templates and drive the adoption of these within the business.

The Contract Management Lead will proactively review opportunities to improve processes around contract management and will engage with key senior stakeholders to influence their uptake within the business.

The role will require the building of relationships with the Leadership team and Contract Owners and close collaboration with Procurement in order to ensure that the business benefits of contract management are realized. 

The Contract Management Lead will support the development of Contract Management related MI and be responsible for the provision and analysis of data relating to the performance of the Contract Management CoE, including key performance indicators and data comprising the Contract Management Dashboard. 

The Contract Management Lead will support the Head of Contract Management in identifying the training needs of local Janssen businesses on key topics relating to the contract management lifecycle and the provision of training.


Professional Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry codes (e.g. ABPI code) 

  • Strong team working skills - relationship management, interpersonal, communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and organizational skills.

  • Strong business and analytical skills - problem solving ability and ability to work independently.

  • Strong leadership skills; ability to work well in matrix cross functional, virtual teams in an international context.

  • Attention to detail, reviewing contracts for conformity to policies and identifying and assessing risks and areas of leveraging value

  • Self-starter with a strong drive for results and a strong sense of ownership, but also a willingness to take direction.

  • Able to set an example and ensure high ethical, legal and compliance standards and comfortable dealing with ambiguity.

  • Good self-awareness, constructive mindset, eager to seek and receive feed-back.


Qualification Requirements: 

  • Required Minimum Education: degree (in any discipline).

  • Required Experience: extensive experience operating autonomously as a Supplier Contract Manager, preferably in the healthcare industry.

  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Significant commercial contract work experience, with exposure to the development of tools, templates and techniques and the development of business capability.
