Location: Remote (candidates based in Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland or Netherlands)
Duration: Contract running until the end of 2025 (opportunity for a contract extension)
Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking a skilled and innovative External Data Architect Consultant to join our Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) department. This role is vital in developing a robust data architecture that facilitates advanced data analytics, particularly supporting our sustainability program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data modeling, data integration, and analytics within a manufacturing or industrial context, along with a variety of technical skills. The consultant is expected to start no later than April 1st, 2025.
roles and responsibilities
Data Architecture Design:
Develop and implement a comprehensive data architecture that addresses the growing need for data analytics in the MSAT department.
Establish an automated and dynamic sustainability and ESG data framework with automated connectivity to original data sources, ensuring timely and accurate data availability.
Sustainable Data Models:
Design and maintain data models that evaluate the impact of products and processes concerning existing and forthcoming sustainability regulations and company aspirations.
Identify needs and methods for data cleaning, addressing gaps, and ensuring high data quality.
Analytics Support:
Collaborate with data analysts and stakeholders to translate analytical needs into technical requirements.
Develop dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and glidepaths using tools such as Power BI to effectively track and report sustainability metrics and performance.
Standard Implementation:
Implement a standard for the calculation and evaluation of sustainability projects, ensuring alignment with business value.
Enable goals tracking to monitor progress and drive continuous improvement in sustainability initiatives.
Data Integration:
Ensure seamless integration of disparate data sources, including SAP and other ERP systems, into a unified architecture to support dynamic reporting.
Leverage Microsoft Azure and other Common Data Layer technologies for efficient data management and accessibility.
Collaboration:
Partner with various departments, including the Office of Sustainability, Master Data Management, Strategic Planning, Manufacturing Sites, JJ Technology, DOTS, PES, Value Chain, and others, to avoid rework and leverage existing solutions and queries.
Use platforms like QuickBase to facilitate project management and collaboration across teams.
Trends and Innovations:
Stay current with industry best practices, technologies, and trends in data architecture and analytics.
Recommend advancements and improvements to the data architecture continuously.
how to succeed
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or technology environment.
Strong expertise in data modeling techniques and tools.
Familiarity with sustainability challenges and regulations within the manufacturing sector.
Proficient in database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data warehousing solutions.
Experience with Power BI, SAP, and other ERP systems.
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Common Data Layer technologies.
Familiarity with QuickBase or similar platforms.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
