External Data Engineer Consultant - MSAT (Manufacturing Science & Technology)


Location: Remote working - We are accepting applications from Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium only 

Duration: Until December 2025 

Hours: 40 hours per week


We are seeking a skilled and innovative External Data Engineer Consultant to join our Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) department. This role will work closely with the Data Architect to focus on organizing data sets, building algorithms for analysis, and constructing an integrated data system. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of Power BI, expertise in QuickBase, and a strong technical background in data engineering, data architecture, and analytics. This consultant position is vital to enhancing our data capabilities in support of our sustainability program.


roles and responsibilities

Data Organization:

  • Organize and structure data sets to ensure optimal accessibility and usability for analysis.

  • Develop and implement data management practices to maintain data quality and integrity.

Algorithm Development:

  • Build and implement algorithms for data analysis to extract insights and support decision-making processes within the MSAT department.

  • Collaborate with the Data Architect to align algorithms with data models and analytics strategies.

Integrated Data Systems:

  • Construct an integrated data system that consolidates disparate data sources, facilitating seamless data flow and reporting.

  • Ensure compatibility and integration with existing systems, including SAP and other ERP platforms.

Infrastructure Maintenance and Scalability:

  • Maintain and scale the data infrastructure as business needs evolve, ensuring reliability and performance.

  • Implement best practices for data storage, processing, and retrieval to support the dynamic needs of the organization.

Automation of Processes:

  • Automate manual analysis and management processes to enhance efficiency and reduce the time needed for data processing.

  • Develop scripts and tools that streamline data workflows and enhance the overall data management process.

Collaboration:

  • Work in close partnership with the Data Architect and various departments to ensure that data engineering efforts align with the overall strategy for sustainability.

  • Assist in the implementation of solutions identified by the Data Architect and ensure proper integration within the existing ecosystem.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Utilize Power BI for data visualization and reporting, creating dashboards that support sustainability metrics tracking.

  • Leverage QuickBase to facilitate project management and collaboration across teams.

Trends and Innovations:

  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data engineering.

  • Recommend advancements in tools and technologies to enhance data capabilities within the organization.


how to succeed

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or technology environment.

  • Expert knowledge of Power BI for data visualization and reporting.

  • Strong expertise in QuickBase for project management and collaboration.

  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.

  • Experience with data pipeline and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure) and data storage solutions.

  • Knowledge of data integration technologies and tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
