Perfect Store Manager - High Wycombe (Hybrid role)

12 month contract with the possibility of extension

Hybrid working - 3 days onsite in High Wycombe and 2 days remote

The Role:

 The J&J Category Development team is responsible for delivering category plans that build sustainable growth for both J&J and our retail partners. The perfect store manager sits as a critical member of this team working alongside the category development managers. 


 

As a perfect store manager, you will be focused on transforming our physical availability through in-store execution for your assigned categories.  You will be responsible for analysing our current in store performance against the set key metrics across availability, visibility and promotional activity, designing and deploying initiatives to grow our macro category and accelerate our NTS growth, and collaborate cross-functionally to step change the in-store presence of our brands.

 

The successful candidate will need strong project management skills as well as advanced analytical skills. They will need to collaborate effectively and constructively challenge key stakeholders to align and drive implementation of the perfect store vision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive Perfect Store initiative implementation, tracking progress vs milestones, driving progress across the business and finding solutions to unblocking barriers. 

  • Drive Perfect Store delivery by managing initiative implementation with category managers and account teams. 
  • Own NE dashboard delivery on a timely and accurate basis to track progress, generate insights and identify opportunities.
  • Optimise use of perfect store data and improve / automate analytics. 
  • Collaborate with NE and Global perfect store leads to drive the agenda in NE.
  • Own relationship with 3rd party agencies to support KPI management and action planning (Be my Eye/Trax and ShopSmart)

 

 

Integrating Perfect Store into Other Business processes

  • Conduct ongoing assessment of distribution opportunities outside of annual process via deserved distribution reports
  • Integrate MSL’s into other workstreams as needed, such as MSL+/Red Quadrant.
  • Own MSL+ action plan and Red Quadrant recommendations into the sqauds. 
  • Own, enhance, automate and roll out the Triple Win Tool collaborating with expert teams and agencies to deliver this.
  • Own budget management for our agencies and also the supplier negotiation. Look for opportunities to create further efficiencies / improved data reads.  

 

 

Business Planning

  • Collaborate with sqauds to provide category perspective and the voice of the customer to all initiatives and day-to-day thinking. 
  • Partner with squads to provide category input to all NPIs and brand initiatives with focus on distribution, ranging, hand/eye and presence decisions (includes target setting)
  • Partner with CDMs and category development managers through IBP process to identify perfect store initiatives and associated size of prize. Track and drive progress ongoing. 
  • Challenge and build customer and squad team’s plans to drive customer centricity and stretch the ambition.
  • Lead and shape CD briefs and input to critical parts of IBP process including clear guidance on distribution opportunities, NPI execution, SKU hierarchies, ROS guidance and risks from tail skus.
  • Develop improved tools to streamline business planning process and ensure robust target setting and tracking


 

Shape the Future / Picture of Success:

  • The perfect store manager will own the picture of success – what is our vision for the fixture across all retail channels? What does perfect look like?
  • Collaborate with the category and CBI team to generate clear insights to facilitate recommendations to support our vision of picture of success.
  • Create a clear vision on best-in-class fixurisation and shopper disruption in fixture. 
  • Work with category managers to help implement this picture of success with retailers and where opportunities arise support store trials / co-creation to test store of the future concepts
     

Professional Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.  High levels of intellectual capacity and curiosity.
  • Strong project management skills – the ability to play an active role in monitoring progress of initiative and challenging teams to reap most potential
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in vendor management/ negotiations with service providers
  • Strong, proven analytical skills including:
    • Excellent Nielsen data knowledge
    • Advanced Excel user, basic knowledge of Tableau and VBA is a plus
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and proactively identify issues / opportunities and recommend actions
