Department
The Bioprocessing department is part of the Operations Day shift and is responsible for the quality and safety of processes and the equipment used by the Fermentation, Pre-culture, Bioreactor Assembly, Primary Recovery, Downstream Processing and Column Packing departments. In addition, the department is responsible for investigating and solving of (technical and quality-related) deviations in the production process, also outside office hours. The department leads and participates in various projects to optimize production processes and equipment or to implement new production processes and equipment.
Main responsibilities
As a Process Engineer within Bioprocessing you are responsible for a product. This means keeping, monitoring and improving processes/equipment in good condition within the framework of EHS&S, GMP and MPS. The (Sr) Process Engineer:
Is a knowledge carrier of the production processes and of equipment used in the protein line.
Initiates and leads process and/or equipment improvements. This also includes leading and executing Change Control processes, managing BIs and defining the User Requirements in consultation with other parties. Improvements can be in the areas of capacity, safety (EHS&S) and quality (GMP).
Actively leads and/or participates in investigations into deviations in production processes, identifies corrective and/or preventive actions and ensures that these are dealt with adequately and within agreed timelines.
Initiates and leads projects related to production capacity and equipment life cycle management.
Initiates and leads improvements in the field of ARBO/EHS&S and quality.
Participates in NPI projects and (global) multidisciplinary projects in the field of production as a (core) team member.
Is a member of a product’s global Tech Team
Uses ao data science and modeling as tools in eg preventing process deviations or in proposing process improvements.
how to succeed
Knowledge, Education and Experience
A completed technical HBO or WO education, for example (bio) pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical technology, life sciences.
HBO level: work experience at least 6 years for sr level and 3 yrs for regular level
WO level: work experience at least 4 years for sr level and 2 yrs for regular level
Experience with biotechnology and production processes
Preferably experience with/knowledge of both upstream and downstream processing
Experience as a system/process expert
Affinity with automation is recommended.
Be able to analyze large data sets
Able to function well both independently and in a team.
Leadership skills / can lead teams.
Communicative skills, decisive and self-assured.
A good balance between conceptual thinking and practical technical insight.
Able to work in a strong quality-oriented environment (GMP).
Good command of the Dutch and English language (oral and written)
