The Project:

Johnson and Johnson Services, Inc. a member of the Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies is recruiting for an NPD Sourcing Manager. This position will support the New Product Development sourcing for DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction.

 

The NPD Sourcing Manager will be accountable for managing the instruments and implants source selections in alignment with External Manufacturing Supply Integration, Category, and Sub-Category strategies. 



 

The Role:

He or she will execute Procurement goals and strategies, delivering on financial, quality, service and compliance objectives, and execute source selections in alignment with the broader J&J category and sub-category strategies.


 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating cross-functionally to gather all requirements for devices and technologies to be sourced.
  • Execute market scans for potential suppliers that will meet all aspects of the project. 
  • Develop and execute RFP (Requests for Proposals) and RFQ (Requests for Quotation)
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional team(s) in supplier selection(s).
  • Conduct commercial negotiations with selected supplier(s).
  • Support on-boarding of suppliers as required in support of Franchise Approved Supplier List(s)
  • Develop and lead execution of projects to initiate Supply Agreement(s), where appropriate.
  • Support multiple NPD projects simultaneously across multiple businesses, global procurement categories, and geographies
  • Partner with procurement category teams and senior leaders in R&D to identify unmet needs to drive the execution of sourcing strategies and innovative supplier solutions aligned to the franchise technology roadmap
  • Lead multiple complex supplier negotiations simultaneously.  Coordinate with key stakeholders, drive terms that are favorable for DePuy Synthes, and lead transition of stabilized products, contracts and suppliers to base business and category sourcing teams. 
  • Lead SOURCE due diligence and transaction support for DePuy Synthes business development teams for both product supply / distribution and acquisition activities. 
  • Optimize quality, supply reliability, NPD supplier performance, innovation, and cost through early supplier engagement during product development.
  • Drive innovation through identifying and developing external partner capabilities to meet future technology needs
  • Coordinate with the Cost Engineering group for completion of Should Cost Modeling (activity-based costing) for the source product
  • Manage the relationships of key suppliers supporting New Product Development and ensure alignment with supplier segmentation strategies
  • Coordinate and execute supplier contracts such as development agreements, supply agreements and distribution agreements
  • Identify and understand the market risks associated with sourced product and recommend strategies to minimize financial and operational risk of suppliers
  • Active engagement with project planning within standard project management tools and processes in a broad range of business settings
  • Coordination and collaboration with source finance for the management of standard costs and associated attributes to ensure pricing accuracy


 

Professional Experience Required:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. MBA / Advanced degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in a Sourcing, Operations, or Supply Chain role is required
  • A demonstrated working knowledge and experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment with regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements is required
  • Experience in negotiating contract terms with external suppliers is required
  • Creative & decisive problem-solving skills, business partner (internal & external), ability to adapt to meet constantly evolving priorities, and sound reasoning skills are required
  • A demonstrated ability to work in team environment with focus on internal and external relationship development is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information is required
  • Strong influencing skills and eye for business is required
  • Able to prioritize requests, and propose effective cost / customer service alternatives when necessary is required
  • FPX / Project management training and experience is preferred
  • APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) or CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification is preferred
  • Strongly prefer experience within the Medical Device or Healthcare industry
  • Previous experience with Six Sigma / Process Excellence Tools, Training and / or Certification is preferred
  • Experience working with financial tools and solid analytical skills are strongly preferred
  • Leeds, UK location preferred
  • This position may require some travel (up to 10%, as needed)

In return for this role you will receive a very competitive hourly rate. A minimum 12 month contract & an opportunity to work with a Global Leader within the Pharmaceutical sector, Johnson & Johnson.
