Research & Development Engineer/Project Engineer - Mainly remote (Medical Devices)

 

Key points to note about this role:

  • This role will be mainly remote however you will be required to visit the Blackpool J&J site as the business requires (you must be UK based)
  • Medical Device experience is highly desired
  • Pharmaceutical experience is required as a minimum

The Project:

Provide an appropriate level of innovative skill and knowledge in specific technical areas, which have been defined as major business opportunities or interests, and to assist in the creation of products within these areas, which successfully meet customer and company needs.  Contribute to the EU Medical Device Regulation transition program across the Joint Reconstruction business.

 

The Role:

  • May handle several projects concurrently depending on the magnitude of each.
  • Will meet delivery promises in terms of budget and timescales.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility to his/her Manager for the attainment of technical goals agreed in relation to project objectives with the appropriate level of guidance and within agreed deadlines.
  • May be given responsibility for specifying product designs and influencing the choice of raw materials, processes and equipment necessary to develop and manufacture products.
  • May be given responsibility as project lead for aspects of the overall program or maintenance of existing products.
  • To provide cover as required for other Bioengineers.
  • To adhere to the company’s procedures as detailed in the SOP manual.
  • Provide a world-class service to customers, both within and without R&D.
  • Supporting regulatory submissions for existing products in strategic markets.

 

Desired experience:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in product development in Medical device or Pharma Combination Devices industry
  • Knowledge of Design Control and technical file creation, writing and remediation in Medical Devices
  • Experience of working on MDR-associated programmes highly desirable
  • Familiar with MDR deliverable such as the IFU, device lifetime, product specification and claims upgrading

 

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in engineering or science subject. MSc/MEng/MBA is preferred.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Good communication skills with people at all levels.
  • Able to handle the demands of a focused product development group.

Please Note: This role is INSIDE IR35. Pay rate for this role will depend on how you are paid (PAYE or Umbrella options available - advertised rate is PAYE)
