roles and responsibilities
The Senior Electrical Engineer is accountable for the technical performance, reliability, and safety of the site’s electrical systems at the Norderstedt facility. They lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure in compliance with regulatory standards, Johnson & Johnson engineering protocols, and industry best practices. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting project execution, troubleshooting complex issues, and mentoring junior engineers to ensure excellence in electrical engineering practices. This will involve:
Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of the site electrical distribution system, ensuring reliability and compliance with all regulatory, national, and Johnson & Johnson standards.
Conduct studies on harmonics and other electrical interference from renewable energy sources.
Prepare and modify electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs.
Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for electrical issues as needed.
Design electrical systems as part of integrated project teams.
Implement and uphold the highest engineering standards to ensure safety and business continuity (BCP).
Review, maintain, and challenge Electrical Standards and Safety Protocol (ESSP) assessments.
Verify and review safety and compliance of electrical installations, including projects and system changes.
Authorize and oversee Electrical Work Permits, including live electrical work.
Lead tasks to execute electrical design and engineering projects, coordinating with project teams to address technical problems, design conflicts, risks, and testing issues.
Participate in project documentation and provide status updates to management.
Identify opportunities to improve project planning, execution, and quality.
Support the management and preventive maintenance of critical electrical supply systems, including generators, UPS systems, and site-wide load sharing.
Review and update electrical asset conditions per Facilities Condition Assessments and contribute to replacement planning.
how to succeed
You will have experience of leading end-to-end capital projects, strong electrical engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing environments. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative, as well as with a team. You will also bring:
You will be fluent in both German and English.
Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent through experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint required.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Experience with electrical system design, distribution, and preventive maintenance.
Proficiency in preparing electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Experience leading technical projects and coordinating with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
Project management experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant engineering software.
Experience in manufacturing or industrial plant environments preferred.
