The Data Analyst/Data Engineer will support digital data capabilities within Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT), with a primary focus on enabling structured, interoperable data through ontology development and data engineering. A key part of the role involves supporting the CarT Knowledge Graph and ensuring CGT functions embed ontology in R&D digital systems, but the role will also contribute more broadly to CGT digital data initiatives.
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform data discovery and profiling on internal and external datasets including Biovia, MES, LIMS, Benchling ELN, and data from external manufacturing partners.
Identify data quality issues, integration challenges, and semantic modeling needs for CGT workflows.
Identify ontology gaps and collaborate with ontology SMEs and developers to mint URIs and extend the CarT ontology.
Work with IT and data engineering teams to embed ontology into data pipelines in the R&D data lake.
Collaborate with system owners to integrate ontology elements into CGT systems such as eLIMS, MES markers, Biovia and Benchling.
Implement and govern the Benchling ELN ontology for process and analytical CGT functions, ensuring alignment with the broader CarT ontology.
Contribute to additional CGT digital data initiatives including digital integration, lab automation and structured data capture.
How to Succeed
Bachelors or masters degree in science, Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital or scientific role
Experience in data analysis, data engineering, and comfortable in using SQL/scripting
Experience with scientific systems such as LIMS, MES, and Benchling ELN.
Experience in S88 CMC Process model framework, PSOA recipes
Familiarity with semantic technologies, modeling, or ontology development.
Strong analytical and data modeling skills.
Cross-functional collaboration and communication.
Ability to work independently, take ownership of work and drive key priorities forward
Ability to translate scientific workflows into digital representations.
Attention to detail and strong governance discipline.
